CHARACTER NAME:   Algernon Butcher usually called just Butcher

RACE (base animal): Boar

AGE: 45

SEX: Male

HAIR: Black (greying)

EYES: Brown

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A barrel chested, tree stump of a man.  He is hairy, sweaty and frequently covered in coal dust.  His arms are frequently covered in bare spots where hot coals have struck but his skin is too thick to burn easily.  His left tusk is broken off short.

He usually wears a white long sleeve pullover that hasn't been white for quite some time.  The arms are cut off at the elbows to allow for his huge forearms.  Below that are a pair of dark blue pants, held up with suspenders.  Knotted around his thick neck is a red kerchief.

DISTINCTIVE MARKS/SCARS/TATOOS: Broken tusk

CHARACTER HISTORY: Butcher has worked the rails since he was a young man, moving up from stoker to engine driver.  He can nurse more speed out of a locomotive than any other driver; some say that it is because he can make 100 tons of steel feel fear, while others maintain that he can make the engine strive to please him out of love.  Butcher simply shrugs and gets down to the business of making the trains run on time.

Before he got his job with the railway, Algernon Butcher drifted, doing odd jobs to stay alive, even working for a while as a circus strong man and roustabout.  In his spare time he nurtured a taste for gin and picked up the occasional bit of spare change in drinking contests or bare knuckle fights.  He was headed for an early grave, either in prison or in the ranks of Her Royal Highness's army.  It was only by chance that the barely literate Butcher saw and read the posting for a job with the railway.  He took to steam power like a duck to water and expects to retire from the railway with a fat pension.

PERSONALITY: Normally quiet, Butcher has been known to sing (loudly off key) when in his cups.  He is a fierce friend and a terrible enemy.  He is slow to anger, despite an appearance of (feigned) savagery but when his anger is roused he becomes terrifying in the depths of his rage.  He enjoys a good bar fight but is more than willing to stand the losers a round if he is on the winning side or vice versa.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: Natural aptitude with steam powered equipment

WEAPONS OF CHOICE: His fists or a 36" open end wrench

LOVE/LIKES: Trains, gin, bar fights, friends

HATES/DISLIKES: Fussy people, people using his first name

FEARS/PHOBIAS: Drowning

DREAMS/IDEALS: Retiring to a country cottage where he can hear the train whistles and sit drinking gin while he watches them chug past.

ANYTHING ELSE THAT MIGHT BE HANDY THAT OTHER MEMBERS SHOULD KNOW OR THAT DOESN'T FIT IN THE ABOVE CATEGORIES: Is still barely literate but can understand technical drawings in any language.

CHARACTER NAME: Morgan Aaron Cooper, known by Morgan to most and Coop or Stretch to his friends

RACE: Race (base animal) Weasel

AGE: 32

SEX: Male

HAIR: See below

EYES: Dark Brown

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: He is a lean, towering scarecrow of a man with wirey muscles supporting a frame that stetches up almost 7 feet in height when relaxed. His light fur is brown fading to white on the interior of his arms, legs, the front of his neck and torso. Unusually for a weasel, he has no visible tail. In public he typically wears a duster, fedora, denim jeans, boots and a loose tail-less shirt thats belted at the waist with a leather belt. A revolver and bowie knife adorn the belt and he looks like the height of American fashion in London.

DISTINCTIVE MARKS/SCARS/TATOOS: There's a complicated looking brand that isn't often visible on the interior of both forarms.

CHARACTER HISTORY: He never knew his father but his mother was a gypsy that arrived in America when he was four. She joined the circus and was billed as an exotic hindi master, able to perform astounding mental feats such as mind-reading and fortune telling. He has no recollection of his life before he was in the circus as a performer. He spent his early life watching and learning performance acts, helping where he could. His mother died when her tent caught fire when he was ten and he was adopted by his circus family. He was billed as the incredible stretching boy, owing to his unusual height and incredible flexability. As the years went by he grew taller and learned skills from many of the other acts, learning contortionism, acrobatics, some trick riding, wrestling and not only had a show in his own right, astounding people with the abilty to slouch, for him, and appear six feet tall, then rising and stretching to reach a head height of nine feet, reaching up to pluck an item off a shelf twelve feet off the ground but also to act as an addition to many other shows working in tandem with contortionists, acrobats, trick riders and even knife throwers and trick shooters. He took a few breaks, none lasting longer than two years, where he travelled the country and tried his hand at more mundane jobs but always went back to the life he grew up with. When he was older he took his savings and sailed to England with the intention of finding out more of where he came from, who his father was and why his mother fled Europe. He has spent the last 4 years travelling with an English circus trying to get a feel for the people, culture and lifestyle.

PERSONALITY: He is an outgoing, jovial person, given to pranks on occasion. He is lighthearted and very tolerant. Very relaxed with a long fuse he does tend to explode when its reaches its end. He enjoys entertaining people and loves to make others laugh and will often use his slight of hand and speed for shock value following it up with a joke at his own expense.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: He is incredibly flexible, quick and can stretch his thin, elongated looking body to astonishing dimensions.

WEAPONS OF CHOICE: His preferred weapon is a quick wit. If this fails to stop trouble then he prefers barehands, knives, guns and his teeth in that order.

LOVE/LIKES: Fun and making people laugh.

HATES/DISLIKES: Lack of acceptance outside the sideshow

FEARS/PHOBIAS: Lack of acceptance outside the sideshow

DREAMS/IDEALS: Discovering who his father is, where his mother came from, what his brands are from and how they got there.

CHARACTER NAME:  Alazne Citlalmina Donea

RACE (base animal):  Mother was a Lynx and father was a Vampire Bat

AGE:  26

SEX:  Female

HAIR:  Light Golden

EYES:  Golden Green

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:  Alazne stand 5 foot even.  She is trim and wiry, not skinny but definitely toned.  She moves with a grace that only a cat or a professional dancer can ever achieve.  Her body is covered in a soft down like fur that is a light gold color.  Her throat, chest and inner thighs are white.  Her sides, back and limbs sport dark markings, almost dot like in appearance.  Alazne's tail is short, too short to be of any real use except to provide a little extra balance at those times when it is needed.  Her ears are slightly pointed and have dark tufts on the tips.  She wears her hair down usually, letting it fall to just above her rear end.  The edges and ends of her hair are dark, almost black.  Her whiskers seem to twitch at nothing.  She has a set of wings like membranes that run between her sides and the inside of her arms.  The membranes are delicate and seem as if they would break in the slightest breeze.  Although not strong enough to allow her to fly they can help her glide some if she falls from a great height.  Alazne is usually dressed in a white peasant blouse with a flowing multicolored skirt.  She wears soft sided boots with a 1 inch heel and is adept at running full speed in them.

DISTINCTIVE MARKS/SCARS/TATOOS: None

CHARACTER HISTORY:  Alazne was born to a Basque gypsy mother and a Aztec decedent father.  She never knew her father as he didn't hang around long enough to see her born.  Alazne was born under three rather potent omens.  On the morning of her birth there was an eclipse, a meteor shower and a shooting star traveled straight over the gypsy camp.  She was expected to do great things for the clan.  But when she was born and they saw that she had the wings of a bat most of the clan was horrified.  How could this have happened?  So Alazne grew up an outcast in her own clan, even her mother couldn't bare to look at her for long.  When she was 5 she was sent to live with a distant cousin in Paris.  The cousin was a spinster who had no idea how to deal with a child.  She was strict but fair and made sure that Alazne learned her letters, mathematics, geography and history.  As well has her Bible and Catechism.  At the age of 7 Alazne made friends with the youngest daughter of a very wealthy merchant family.  A year later she was living with them as the daughters constant companion.  The two girls fast became inseparable and where one went you were sure to find the other.

When the daughter was sent to England at the age of 12 for schooling, Alazne was sent with her as her handmaiden.  She took dance, singing and music classes with her friend, it being the only way the girl would attend.  Alazne was a natural dancer, become quite proficient at the piano and the violin and found that she had a rather pleasant singing voice.  Apart from those 3 classes she was regulated to doing the housework.  Alazne didn't mind the work she had to do, in fact she found it quite enjoyable most of the time.  But the one thing that she liked the most was being able to go to the circus.  When ever it was in town she would make the time to go for at least a couple of hours.  It was the one place where she didn't feel like a freak.  For 4 years the two girls lived in a small townhouse on Saint Edwards Street not far from the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Then Alazne's friend slipped and fell down the flight of stairs, suffering grievous injuries.  Although the girl lived she would never walk again.  The police did not believe that the fall was an accident and blamed Alazne for it.  So instead of waiting around to be arrested, tried and convicted of a crime she did not commit, Alazne packed what she could carry and fled.  She fled London and headed north not really knowing where she was going.  But luck was with her.  She managed to catch up with the circus as it headed north, back to Scotland.  Alazne begged and pleaded to be allowed to travel with them.  The owner wasn't so sure about letting a 16 halfbreed tag along but in the end she won him over.  About a month later she was cleaning up the big top after the days performances had ended humming to her self.  The high wire was still up and she got the fullish idea to climb up and walk it.  So that is what she did.  But before she could make it even a third of the way across the owner entered, saw her and started to fume silently.

Alazne lost her concentration when she saw him and slipped off the wire.  There was no net to catch her but instead of falling to her death she managed to snap open her wings and glide into a landing.  The circus' owner was furious with her but he had to admit that her ability to glide was something that he had never had in the circus before.  So she began to learn the business of being a performer.  Not just the high wire but trapeze as well.  She also danced and sang to help draw in the crowds.  So now here it is some 10 years after she fled London and she is a well known and well respected member of the circus.

PERSONALITY:  Alazne is very out going and sociable.  She especially likes being able to make children laugh and smile.  A smile is never far from her face and she is almost always humming one tune or another.  When she gets excited her wings shudder and her tail swishes at a rapid pace.  If she is extremely happy she will actually purr.

SPECIAL ABILITIES:  Able to glide with her wings.  Although her father is a vampire bat she has no need to consume even the tinest amount of blood.

WEAPONS OF CHOICE:  Knife for close in work, claws and teeth if nothing else is available.  Derringer pistol for self protection.

LOVE/LIKES:  Making children smile and laugh.  Being in the circus.

HATES/DISLIKES:  Those who pray on children or women.  Feeling like a freak.

FEARS/PHOBIAS:  Being caught by the police and going to prison.

DREAMS/IDEALS:  She dreams of dying a circus performers death.  Finding someone she can spend the rest of her life with.

AGE:16
SEX: Female
HAIR: White with Grey and Gold streaks
EYES: Odd (one blue one gold)
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Edwina takes on the characteristics of the mixing of her parents breeds, her body being long and lean, almost exotic like her mothers, her face being rounder and ears smaller like her fathers. At 5’4” she stands just a hair taller than her mother and equally as much shorter than her father.  Her fur is short, but holding a pleasant curl, and soft as down. The predominant color is white, with gold and grey spots marbled down her spine and slender tail.
DISTINCTIVE MARKS/SCARS/TATOOS: She has a dark grey spot that spreads from her left ear to make one side of her face look like it is always in shadow. As if this is not enough, that side of her face is the one which her golden eye peers from.

And so she was.
A scant two years from their first meeting, They were wed and she bore him a son, Daniel.  A year later, Constance again was with child.  Edwina was born just minutes before her twin, Elise, entered and exited the world just as quickly.
Despite the loss of one of their children, or perhaps because of it, they were doting parents.  As of late, however, Edward has been pushing his only daughter towards finding a husband, a process she is not eager to undertake.
PERSONALITY: Out going and fun, she is great in any sort of social interaction, but finds herself a little hard pressed to be serious.  She has an innate curiosity and a highly inventive imagination, just like her mother, excelling in creating and telling stories.

LOVE/LIKES: Having fun, telling stories, hearing stories, puppet shows.
HATES/DISLIKES: Responsibility, Sensibility, Propriety, having to sit still through stuffy adult dinners.
FEARS/PHOBIAS: Heights
DREAMS/IDEALS: To have an adventure

CHARACTER NAME:   Matilda "Mattie" Smollett

RACE (base animal):  Black-capped Capuchin

AGE: 19. . .approximately

GENDER: Female

HAIR: As is typical of all her kin, her hair is obsidian black and naturally cropped close to her scalp. A center ridge that increases in length as it nears her forehead rises into a pointed peak much like the curious hairstyles of the savages of the new colonies.

EYES: A brilliant shade of warm copper that catches the light as would a brand new penny.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Mattie is small, as all her people are. Standing at a positively petite four foot seven, her limbs, in proportion to her height are very long and lithe. Her hands have long and almost mystically dexterous digits and her feet too having a very similar appearance. Her body is immaculately lean, bordering on the skinny side and is covered in a soft, glistening fur of a warm honey tone about her torso and thighs, her shoulders deepening to a burnt cinnamon with the extremities of her hands, feet and tail in the blackest of obsidians. Her face seems filled with a placid mirth, with a gentle mouth that delicately curve upwards at the corners.

Most certainly tomboyish in appearance, Mattie prefers a pair of either high-waist knickerbockers or shorts over the usual feminine apparel of dresses and skirts, allowing her long legs a greater freedom. She always wears a beautifully tailored waistcoat over a modest button-up shirt, with her treasured pocket watch tucked safely into the breast pocket. A pair of brass goggles with interchangeable lenses is frequently perched on her head, framing her delicate features. A thick, brown belt with a chunky, brass buckle and several leather pouches full of things only known to Mattie,  sits loosely at slender hips at all times.  Shoes are shunned entirely and instead a pair of gators or spats are worn when in public.

DISTINCTIVE MARKS/SCARS/TATOOS: Intricate, circular scars of the palest of pink on her palms.

CHARACTER HISTORY:  Mattie has no memory of her life from before the age of, what she suspects, around about five. She grew up as part of a gang of pick pocketing street urchins governed by the ever present and watchful eyes of Madam Pennywell. Mattie's small stature, prehensile tail and feet, as well as the face of innocence incarnate quickly secured her place within Madam Pennywell's top earners, thus making her a highly valued commodity. The talents of her nimble fingers were many: their almost spectral ability to lift a wallet or other valuables with no detection garnered the attentions of her guardian, but it was the pocket and wrist watches that enticed Mattie's attention. A broken pocket watch of tarnished brass was thrown her way, upon the revelation of it no longer moving its hands to count the seconds, minutes and hours. The young monkey became fascinated with the piece, her delicate digits tenderly popped open the case to reveal the tiny movements within. The cogs and bridges, springs and stones, winders and wheels, all the minute parts that would cause any other being frustration seemed to speak out to her in their mechanized order.  With great patience and persistence, within a week the watch was working as if it were brand new and was polished to an almost mirror shine. Mattie hid her treasure from the prying eyes of the other children and her guardian, viewing as a trophy and reward for her silence and unquestioning obedience. By the time the young simian had reached the ripe age of nine she had managed to rise the ranks from being a part of the begging/pick pocketing squad to "legitimate" employment in Madam Pennywell's cover business as a chimneysweep. Besides clearing the chimneys of the elite of London of soot, she would also scope the properties for valuables and trinkets that could bring her boss a pretty penny or two in a future break in.

It was on such a job when destiny seemed to come to call on the young monkey.  The townhouse in Notting Hill was packed full of unusual items that ticked in whirred in glittering shades of brass and gold, every surface in the building seemed to be occupied by some curiosity, be it collecting dust or housed beneath a great glass dome. The room in which the grand fireplace was situated had dark oak walls lined with shelf upon shelf.  In a room of such tempting and sparkling treasures, it was hard for the young capuchin to quell the desire to pocket just one very small item before she reported back to Madam Pennywell of her glorious find. The lure of the shiny trinkets became too much and with the swift agility that comes with the counter weight of a prehensile tail, one such prize quickly found its way into her long and dexterous hands. The object appeared to be some sort of puzzle and within in seconds the object unfurled in her lithe fingers like a blooming flower. The joy of her achievement was short lived as a blinding flash of light stole all consciousness.

Mattie a woke in a foreign place of crisp linen and a veritable bounty of soft, down filled pillows, a far cry from the cot and filthy blanket she was used to at Madam Pennywell's.  Professor Cotterill, the owner of the house and the many shiny things that had so bedazzled her and seared the pattern of their workings into her palms,  explained to her that she would not be returning to the filth and squalor of Madam Pennywell's on account of her accident and of course upon finding out about the Madam's scam with her chimneysweep business. His silence to the authorities on the Madam's less than legal activities was with paid with Mattie, herself. Professor Cotterill explained to Mattie that she had a gift that she mustn't waste and he explained how he too had a similar gift. The Professor revealed that within in the young monkey was an understanding of things mechanical  that could bring her great fortune and fame, but only if she were tutored by someone with a similiar understanding, someone, like him.

After nine years as Professors Cotterill's ward and apprentice, Mattie has grown from a withdrawn street urchin and into an intelligent young woman with an incredible thirst for knowledge in the gift that is housed by her modest form. She acts as Professor Cotterill's errands girl, amongst her other duties and is a familiar face on the streets of London. Her talent with mechanized items has been carefully nurtured by the Professor, who always includes her in his projects as well as setting her, her own tasks to further advance her unusual talent.

PERSONALITY: Despite her rough start in life, Mattie has an unusually calm disposition. Though a genuine smile is a rare sight on her serene features, rarer still is a frown. Curious by nature, she is continuously on the search for knowledge, be it through books or practice, she seems to be making up for the years when her only education was fleecing the public of their valuables. After having lived in absolute poverty , she has become something of a hoarder, it is hard for her to throw anything away, for fear of it becoming useful as soon as she no longer has it. She is generally quiet until either a bond is formed or a topic that sparks her interest is broached. She has a quick wit that is greatly flavoured with sarcasm and self-deprecation, and a betraying naivety through her silence and gentle appearance.  Her youth allows a fiery temper when provoked, either through frustration or when threatened and she has no qualms in defending herself in the most physical of ways.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: An affinity with machinery which entails an almost empathetic quality towards all items of a mechanized composition, from the most insignificant of clockwork tin toys to the giant workings of the most advanced airship. The discovery of this talent has also awakened a keen memory that is almost photographic in her ability of recall.  Physically, the young simian is incredibly agile and swift moving with an almost supernatural grace, leaning towards stealth. This quickness and of course whisper lightness of her movements is what made her so successful as a pickpocket, her other less than savory skills of lock picking and knife fighting are also blessed by this fluid motion. She has a strong prehensile tail that is often used as a fourth limb, whether it be for grasping things or hoisting her to lofty heights. Her feet are nearly matched to her hands in their dexterity and nimbleness, and she will frequently work between both sets of appendages without a single thought.

WEAPONS OF CHOICE: When pushed into a situation with no other option, Mattie is quick with a blade, whether with her hands or feet. Not only is her close contact blade work impeccable, but she is more than an adept knife thrower. The long canines which are characteristic of all capuchins also serve was an effective weapon when she is without a knife or her fists fail her.

LOVE/LIKES:  Professor Cotterill, shiny things, acquiring knowledge, glittery things, clockwork, sparkly things, rum, twinkly things, the quiet, metallic objects, heights and cherries.

HATES/DISLIKES:  When others resign things as being broken and useless, filth, noise, being mistaken for a simpleton and Madam Pennywell.

FEARS/PHOBIAS: Nothing seems to really phase the young monkey in terms of fear, but at the very heart of the girl she fears the same as any other, her mortality and that of her loved ones.

DREAMS/IDEALS: Life is pretty ideal for Mattie, she wants for nothing and every day has new challenges and more lessons to learn. Now, if life could only remain exactly as it is. . .

MY only issue with this character is the mechnomancy.  Since magic is not that highly developed in this thread, her ability with mechanisms is entirely natural and mundane in nature.  She is a mechanical genius but the skill is entirely natural....

CHARACTER NAME:  Nolan Stoneback

RACE (base animal): Fennec Fox

AGE:  23

SEX: Male

HAIR: A shaggy mop of light brown hair.

EYES: A deep, caramel brown.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tall, thin and lanky. While the rest of his family was all set fairly short, it seemed almost as if he'd been set in a taffy puller [which is his favorite candy, ironically]. He stands at about 6'3' [not including his large ears, which add a few more inches]. Nolan's eyes sparkle with a quiet curiosity, constantly taking in his surroundings and his hands move about as much as his eyes. His mouth is generally closed, unless it needs to be open, his smile showing more through his eyes.

His normal state of dress is that of one who doesn't much care for appearances; he wears what he likes. This includes  a scarf that could easily be at least 10 feet in length, well-worn and a tad faded. Cotton gloves [of different colors] with the index and thumbs cut off of them, and big, worn, heavy leather boots. His trousers are simple. Nothing too flashy, with worn patches on the knees, and there always seems to be some smear of dirt somewhere along them. A simple white shirt is worn over his chest with a thin [yet mighty stylish] jacket [which looks like the most expensive piece of clothing he owns...still not all that expensive, though]. A simple pocketwatch pokes out of his left jacket pocket.

DISTINCTIVE MARKS/SCARS/TATOOS: A small circle cut out of his right ear.

CHARACTER HISTORY: Being the second of five children and still sticking out like a sore thumb [because of his height], Nolan became a fan of being the center of attention, and was well-known in his little Southern Ireland farming community. He did it quietly, however, and never let it get to his head. [His mother always told him he'd sink a ship someday if his ego got out of hand.] When Nolan finally turned eighteen, a well-dressed man entered their little town, and told them that his family, as a whole, had suddenly inherited a fortune. [An old relative who had struck it big in business passed away, leaving his fortune to the next generation of his line. Since his father had to stay and tend the farm, and his older brother had passed away from a lung infection a year or so earlier, it was given to Nolan to take care of and watch over  the proceedings. Nolan, who'd always had a nomad's spirit, gladly took on this responsibility, and was whisked away to London.

After he had the inheritance, and after sending a majority of the money back to his village, he figured he'd stay in the city, and see what the life is like. [Nolan had only ever heard tales.] The next three years he spent living the dream...just not as one would have imagined it. Never really having a knack for understanding the 'finer things' in life, he kept things simple, only dipping into his accounts for what he might need: food, water, and of course, drink. He becomes generally known among the higher circles as an 'eccentric'.

"Keep it simple. If you have a simple, clean life, it's generally by getting a healthy layer o' dirt under your nails," he says with a big grin when confronted about his choice of lifestyle. That, or "Big heads sink ships, that's what me mum always said."

PERSONALITY: Friendly, sociable, but not boisterous. He'll speak when spoken to, and will generally only get riled if you talk down about his family, his choices, or a pretty lady. Loyal. The kind of man who will take his friends' enemies on as his own,  and stay with you till the end.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: An uncanny sense of hearing, and a particular knack for athletics. A master of prestidigitation.

WEAPONS OF CHOICE: His fists, or an improvised weapon. He can fight just as well with a chair leg as he can with a knife, but doesn't carry a weapon, so a beer bottle will have to do.

LOVE/LIKES: Liquor, children, women, good food, a good book, a good game of cards,  the 'simpler things'.

CHARACTER NAME: Minnie (Minerva) Featherspoon

RACE (base animal):  Magpie

AGE: 16

SEX: Female

HAIR: Black

EYES: Black

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Minerva is a small woman with quick movements and bright sparkling eyes and instead of a nose she has a shape beak.
Her build is on the slender side and she is athletic with a wiry musculature. Her feathers are the tell tale black and white of a European Magpie. Her arms have only vestige plumage now the white seen from shoulders to just above her elbows then the same purplish inky black from there to her slender fingertips. A tail flits from her pert derriere. Her legs are almost spindly compared to the rest of her build and yet very strong.

DISTINCTIVE MARKS/SCARS/TATOOS: None at this time

CHARACTER HISTORY: Minerva is the fifth child and youngest child of Charles (Chuck) and Anne Featherspoon. Her family is part of the working class poor the family having been displaced almost a century ago from there rural bucolic roots during the Industrial Revolution. They had migrated to London searching for work and found a niche so to speak in the slums and back streets.
Her father supports his chicks with whatever honest work he can get and then furthers the family coffers with less legitimate pursuits. Her mother is a cook at tavern, The Spotted Dog, that some might call a den of inequity for the people who do not wish the light of day shine on their transactions meet there knowing the food is excellent the grog enough to flatten a charging bull elephant and no one speaks out of turn.
Minerva has spent her life helping her mother in the tavern’s kitchen and running errands for those who conduct business from this establishment. She is an accomplished pickpocket but as she grew older found she had a talent for finding things others needed or wanted.
One night she broke into a warehouse that she had thought was empty but instead found that it was a laboratory with many strange and wondrous gismos and gadgets. She was caught by the tenant of the dilapidated building, a crusty and rather foul tempered badger, who after threatening to turn her over to the Beetles who patrolled the area or worse the guards of the yard she had snuck into struck a deal with her. The deal was simply she would find the things he needed to make his gadgets and help him when asked and she would be free to go.
Jail or help the badger? the decision was not hard and Minnie agreed to find and provide what she can scrounge him. He has been in some ways kind to her in a gruff manner. He has taught her something of how mechanical things work and she has learned how to read and write a skill few in her family possess.

PERSONALITY: Bright and inquisitive Minnie is seldom anything but a cock-eyed optimist the cup never half empty but always almost full. She is given to chattering blithely unless on a job at which time she is very quiet and efficient. She does have a love of bright shiny objects and will often go to great lengths to obtain these items.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: Has a talent to find things many would miss or overlook. She is an extraordinary scrounge and makes enough money to help the household to have a good living for their neighbourhood. She is an accomplished pickpocket again years of practice making her great at the distraction while nimble fingers remove pouches and wallets and other fripperies.

WEAPONS OF CHOICE: Shiv only when cornered otherwise her favorite method ‘Feet don’t fail me now!’

LOVE/LIKES: Anything bright and shiny. She is drawn to diamonds and gemstones and glass baubles alike. She also loves to travel the rooftops of London and knows the streets from above as well as below.
She has a great deal of love for friends and family and will go out on limb for any she cares about.

HATES/DISLIKES: The time she has spent in The Spotted Dog has made her dislike  loud and drunken people. She also hates steak and kidney pie one of her mother’s specialties.
She also has a hatred of wastefulness, something she sees often when people throw away perfectly good reusable things if one just uses a bit of imagination.

FEARS/PHOBIAS: is afraid of being caught and jail, knowing she cannot go to the rooftops she loves and feel the breeze ruffle her feathers. She is definitely claustrophobic.

DREAMS/IDEALS: Minnie’s dream are the small ordinary kind, to find a good man settle down raise a family and be able to afford to do all these things.

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
And seven for a secret never to be told.
Eight's a kiss,
Nine's a wish,
And ten's an evening ending in bliss.

This an old English poem about magpies and I share it with all.
