Elisabeta arrived in Seattle with her two servants, a donor from her homeland, Miguel and a suitable gift for Seattle's Master. She has met with Nigel and one of her servants has met with Father Dominic and handed over a copy of the warrant she is carrying. Both Father Dominic and Elisabeta fear that the rogue vampire she is hunting is responsible for the attack on the nuns. Miguel and her servants have been gathering information for her by day and she has been gathering information by night from the local vampire population. She is staying at the Sorrento Hotel located on the corner of 9th Ave. and Madison St., a place she has stayed several times on her past visits.

Shale has taken a job with a local landscaper who is also a member of the Seattle Wolf Pack. She enjoys working outdoors and with her hands. The smell of freshly turned dirt reminds her of Alaska. Her lawyer has gotten her mail forwarded and a bank account set up for her at a local credit union. He has also sent her the $500,000 check she is going to present to the Pack as a gift, along with a bunch of legal documents she needs to sign. Shale has also been taking driving lessons from a very reputable driving school and is close to being able to get her first drivers license. She, like the rest of the pack, has been unnerved about the disappearance and murder of fellow wolves in the city.
