Tracker/Stealth hunter, although he uses it mostly for tracking things that aren't exactly natural

A growing knowledge of unnatural creatures and how best to kill them.  It's far from complete but he has nothing but time.....
HISTORY: It would be fine, they said.  There was nothing to worry about, they said.  Why wouldn't they believe them?  They were the ones in change.  They had no reason to lie.  Except there was something to worry about.  It wasn't fine.  People were dying.  Something had come to the Everglades and that something was destroying everything.  It wasn't just killing the people, it was killing the trees.  It's touch brought blight and pestilence. 

And still those who were in change did nothing.  They continued to do nothing while the people who trusted them to protect them died.  And by the time they decided to act, there was no one left to save.  The Everglades were gone and only one elf remained.  He was half crazed when they found him, cutting his last remaining arrows out of the corpses of the things he'd killed.  There were dozens of them, as well as thousands of elven corpses, spread all over the newly christened 'Neverglades', a testament to the desperate pitched battle that the elves had fought.  He was the only survivor.

He asked them 'Why?'.  They couldn't answer.  So they died, like his people had died.  They died alone.  They died surrounded by guards.  When all of them were dead, he went hunting other monsters, as well as the complacent leaders who allow them to rampage unchecked.  He's been doing it for over a decade.

It is rare to see Blackthorn smile and laughed is unheard of, save for a mocking laugh.  He knows he is the last of his people.  They will eventually fade into legend but he wants the monsters to fade with them, so that if the elves are forgotten, so too will be the monsters that killed them.

DESCRIPTION:

Narisha is not usually surrounded by flames.  Flames only appear when she is using fire magic, although there is always an extremely faint scent of smoke that surrounds her.  Even when using fire magic the flames that surround her do no damage to the natural world around her yet they can damage man made objects.

FAVORED FIGHTING STYLE:  Magic but will use a sword or staff for close combat

ABILITIES:  Elemental magic: Fire, Smoke and Air based only. 

Postcognition: can see up to 6 months into the past.  This ability is typically used when hired to or forced to track someone or something. 

Tied to Nature:  Hedge Witches have a deep tie to nature, so much so that they can actually feel the damage done to the natural world around them.  This tie is what allows them to use their elemental magic without spells, rituals, books or casting items.

Heal Nature:  While Hedge Witches pull energy from nature to perform their elemental magic they can also give their internal power and energy back to nature to help it heal.  They will have to rest for an extended time after to replenish their own energy.


HISTORY:  Narisha was not born a Hedge Witch.  She was born a mortal just like all the other girls in her village.  However Narisha’s mother was a Hedge Witch and on the morning of the day of her birth when she had seen 16 summers her mother took her to the sacred grove for the initiation ceremony.  All of the daughters of Hedge Witches went to one of the sacred groves on the morning of their 16th year to undergo the initiation, all knowing that only 1 out of 50 would survive.  At the grove they met with the others who would be undergoing the ceremony that day and their mothers.  Narisha was unfamiliar with the other girls there, none of them being from the same village as she.  There were only about a dozen girls that morning and she refused to talk to any of them, knowing that only one of them at most would walk out of the glade.  The others would all parish in the dappled morning light.  One by one they asked to join the most powerful of the Hedge Witches present who then presented them with a copper chalice.  They were told to dip the chalice into the murky waters of the small pond that sat in the middle of the glade and to drink.  One by one the girls did as they were bid and then returned to their places next to their mothers.  Finally it was Narisha’s turn.  She didn’t hesitate to fill the chalice and drink the acrid tasting water.  After she returned to her mother's side the last two girls took their turns.  Then it was time for the real ceremony to begin. 

The mothers all took two steps backwards, clasped hands, closed their eyes and turned their faces to the sky.  Within moments a heavy rain began to fall and the wind within the gladed began to wail and spin.  The girls all started to panic, the rain and wind making it impossible to see their mothers or each other.  However Narisha stayed calm and didn’t move from the spot her mother had left her in.  She felt an overwhelming sense of calm envelop her and then something amazing happened.  She actually heard the trees and grass around her.  Slowly she raised her hands and face to the sky and with a silent scream a bolt of fire shot from her hands and into the sky.

At that exact moment the rain stopped and the wind calmed.  The sun once again shone down in a dappled pattern through the trees.  Looking around her Narisha could see the fallen bodies of the other girls, the ones who didn’t survive the initiation and felt….nothing. 

NOTES:  Hedge Witches are always females.  Hedge Witches are tied to and with nature.  When nature suffers so does the Hedge Witch that has made that area her home.  Even those Hedge Witches that are more of a destructive bent will strive to keep the damage done to nature to a bare minimum.  All Hedge Witches, no matter their moral bent, will aid in protecting, saving and healing nature.  All Hedge Witches have either pre or post cognition to some degree, some have stronger abilities then others but none can see into the past or future past 5 yrs.

HISTORY: Raised by a local church after her mother gave her up during war time, so she and her husband could fend off invaders they never came back for their child. It was suspected they were one of the many victims of the war.  Snippets of her parentage are known to her as he mother was a healer of some repore that lived out in the woods several miles away from the township of Nicklebey that she was dropped of in. Shes heard her father was an half elven archer who had been a part of the towns guard.  Though not many were left after the war that could tell her more about them.

She studied under the local clergy learning about the stars, herbalism, chemistry, healing and ancient history/lore as well as her religion and philosophy.

As she grew into her teenage years the war had ended they had lost the war and the invaders moved into their town to take over. Many were put to sword but the clergy were spared. Mages came to her town and set up a tower for teaching and tactical reasons.
Due to her elven heritage she was ordered to join them and once more she was back at the feet of masters and being an apprentice once more. She suffered some abuse at the hand of her teachers who were strict and heavy handed. Failure was not well tolerated. An education of magic 101 began as they tried to find Wymsin's strong suit when it came to magic.

She studied for a decade under them learning she had aptitude for elemental magics finding she had much more of a calling for that than traditional ritual magic, although she can do some very basic magic that isn't elementally based. Minior transmutation and divination and illusion. She absolutely refuses to use necromantic magic finding it to be unnatural and immoral.

As far as elemental magic goes, she is very adept with Air and Earth which tend to be her forte but she had no issues using fire and Water. Though fire is the hardest of the elemental magics to weild and the most draining for her.

She graduated the mages guild with a small level of Stockholm syndrome for her superiors, who she occasionally journals and writes messages for to send via raven when in her region to let them know she is alive and still out there learning.

Wymsin travels the roads and world gathering knowledge and helping small villages and communities with her abilities in healing and magic when needed and commissioned.  So far shes been a traveller and away from the guild for the past five years.
Her Hobbies include Drawing painting and sketching she is currently working on a few books about the monsters and wildlife of the region as well as one on the local flora and fauna. Her last she carries on herself is a  just more of a journal where she muses about her travels and the ppl she helps and meets sometimes adding sketches to their pages.

Wymsin  Loves learning new things and finds traveling to be rewarding in its own right. Also has a pet Direwolf that she raised as a pup when the mother had been killed by hunters. 

The young male pup has been with her for 3 years now and is fully grown. She named him scout and he travels with her on the road to keep her company. Over the years she trained him to carry a specially made harness saddle bag rig to help carry some of her supplies. He can hunt and guard as well as fight on command but she never uses Scout needlessly as she loves her pet companion.


NOTES: Wymsin travels wearing the robes of her holy order (Dark blue and grey or silver trim) rather than representing as a mage. She wears hooded robes and tries to keep her ears hidden as not all are fans of her heritage. When not wearing a hood she can be seen running around with a romani style banana that at times as a headdress.

If she is opting to not present as a clerical type she wears leather armor under her robes. It isn't enchanted or anything but its soundly made lightweight and flexible, its been dyed in greens and browns (a contrast to her dark blue clerical robes and cloak) to makes it more blendable in woodlands and grasslands.

Her accent sounds very similar to Fran from FF12  Wymsin has several scars from being whipped for incompetent behavior (It is said that the best mages from the guild tower graduate with a half dozen or less. Most marks end up on the back, buf you run out out of space they then use your arms and legs. This the saying never trust an arm scarred mage, began to grow in her country.)

  Wymsin has no scars on her arms but she does have a solid 13 fine scars across her shoulders and lower back that have been spaced out to look vaguely like tiger markings. The headmaster of the tower had joked that if she continued he was going to start adding a criss cross lattice pattern to her back before heading over to start marking her arms. A maximum of 20- 30 lashes were put to any mages( Back size depending because all marks had to be clearly visible and countable by anyone from the high courts that wanted to see your worth as a mage, should they choose to hire you) once the back was full the arms and legs  were marked.

When she was just starting out as an apprentice with the mages she obtained most of her marks then. She doesn't show off much in the way of skin and if the marks were spotted she is not keen to share how she got them.

LIKES: Studying new things, the sound of crickets and frogs singing in the night, mulled wine, gardening and cultivating plants. Sunsets and sunrises, helping others in need. Learning about the noble houses of the continent. Animals especially Scout. Scribing and singing.

LOVES: Painting and Drawing, fresh baked bread with honey and butter, listening to the sound of rain. Traveling and seeing new towns and lands. Meteor showers. The feeling of using magic be it clerical or elemental. Knowledge and listening to peoples stories.

]DISLIKES: Liars cheaters thieves people that discriminate against others for being different. Slavers and those that prey/exploit on the weak.

DESCRIPTION:  Raijin has amber eyes of an eagle; it does not mean that she has the pin-point accuracy of the bird. She does have wings, that blend in with her hair (making it look like she has more than what she really does) The wings do work and allow for her fly…while she would rather like to be in the skies she’s learned that those she travels with find it disturbing to say the least.  She has talons on the tips of her fingers in lieu of fingernails; and just like the talons of the birds of prey they are sharp and scary when she comes after someone with them.

Flight: Natural and was able to do once her wings developed when she hit puberty

Darkvision: Racial trait; she can see up to 60ft in pure darkness.

See Invisibility: able to see those things that are unseen or ethereal naturally

She also has a natural dislike of snakes and Nagas

Purifier: She seeks out those who are unwillingly and unwittingly possessed by those of a fiendish nature.

Oracle: She dreams about things that she doesn't understand and sometimes has been woken from doing something that she has no knowledge of what or how to do something.

HISTORY:  Raijin was born to one of the various clans of plumekith that dotted the mountains that divided the Huntsman’s school and that of the rest of the kingdom. She was found by one of the Huntsman from the school and was brought into to be shown as one of the monsters that they might encounter.

As a training tool, Raijin wasn’t treated the best by the students, at least until her ability as an Oracle came through and then it was thought that she would best serve the school if she was trained. However, it seems that the gods had a bit of revenge in mind for the teacher that found Raijin, in that they blessed her with the ability to see what is to come but leaving her powerless to stop it.


Raijin is finally told that she can leave the school, though she isn’t allowed to take the title of Huntman because in truth she wasn’t really trained. But she can be a companion to a huntsman if that is what she so desires.

HISTORY: Lydicas's tribe lived peacefully in the mountains never really interfering with humans. He had heard tales growing up about the greed and destructive nature they possess. Late last summer a large group of humans ventured into the wulfkins lands in search of precious metals.  Many fought to defend their homeland but it was one sided battle. Most the women and elderly were slaughtered. The young and able bodied men that were not killed were captured and rounded up into cages. Lydicas caught the eye of a young noble lady at auction and was purchased to be an exotic pet. However things never worked in the ladies favor. They tried to break his spirit but failed.  Angered that upon attempting to escape he marred his face with a scar across his left eye, the noble lady tossed him to her brother to be a grunt worker.
