REBOOTS
« on: »
The Anitaverse and Shadowrun are being rebooted.

The problem with the Anitaverse was too many options.  There was no cohesive reasons for the players to work together except in small groups.  So, we need a reason for the characters to interact.  I have a few ideas but I am open to suggestions.  The best idea I see is an organization dedicated to the rights of preternatural creatures.  I would prefer that characters be human (whether magically gifted or not) or shapeshifters, given that they do not have a restriction on their activity cycle the way vampires do.  This is not to say I will refuse vampire characters but those characters will miss much of the role-playing.

NEW RULE:  Play with the other characters.  I will NOT be running a collection of solo adventures.

Shadowrun is being rebooted with a focus not on the corporations but on the street level maneuverings of the Yakuza.  Every character that has been submitted is connected to the Yakuza in some way, so that decision was made easy for me.  You can expect a new beginning shortly.

Sounds like a good idea with the Anitaverse, though I only have one question. For the reboot would you like us to come up with new characters or retool the ones we have?

if we already have more than 1 char in Anitaverse can we keep them or do you want to start off with each person only having 1 char for now and maybe bring in another a little later?

I'm okay with multiple characters.  How would the current characters come together as a single group though?

Shifters can't be cops, so that is out.  Cops are, well, cops, so they are limited in what else they can do.

even with all shifters it can be difficult depending on what breed they are since the different breeds don't really get along with each other, though I suppose they might be convinced to come together and work along side each other (at least for short bursts of time) in some sort of self policing unit or some sort of preternatural unit that assists the police only when there is a definite link to their community.  just need to come up with a solid reason why the different species not only want to, but need to work together.

Well, somebody has been killing off  shapeshifters on the full moons.

So far several rats, a lion and possibly a wolf have turned up dead and skinned (alive) with a silver blade.

Somebody has been harvesting their skins.

Well expanding on what Goosekat was saying about a unit that works along side of the police, perhaps have it tied in with the Marshal program for the Exterminators. And Seattle being the test ground before it is implemented nation wide. It's just a thought mind you...

Executioners, not exterminators.

There is no way ANYONE would put a shapeshifter at any crime scene until long after any evidence was gathered.  The blood and the fear would make it hard for them to resist eating the evidence.  It could only be a support group, not anything like a police auxiliary.

sorry about the title mix up...brain was working without it's daily dose of caffeine to get it going.

Of course not, but even if it was investigative support it would help when it came to the preternatural community; in that it would make them not feel as singled out as if it was just a bunch of humans coming in and busting down doors. The were's know the standard protocols for most of the other groups they might deal with, even if it's just a way of not getting into a pissing match with the other groups.

So you're thinking an advocacy group.   Whenever a warrant is served, one of them attends to keep feathers from being ruffled.

That could work, although I like the business idea a little better. But the advocacy group could work on more than one level now that I think about it. They could look into other things like education and other situations where the rights of non humans are a little off.

Yes an advocacy group. Our spin on the furry coalition as it were. And like Darkflame said they could look in to education, but not just for other weres but for the humans as well. Plus some could be just that politically savvy to be able to lobby city lawmakers about non-human laws.

So expanding on the rat's idea of forming a school/hospital/contractors co-op?

That would certainly work.  There might be needed skills outside the rat Rodere.

Exactly. And with the idea you had of someone hunting the shifters during the full moons it would be more of a reason for the whole were community to come together and work with each other lending credence to the idea of having the weres watchdog group as it were for their own community.

I would suggest that any joint venture with all the weres be placed in either an area of the city that is not under control of any of the preternatural groups (if there is such a place), straddling as many edges of those territories as possible (like the 4 corners area here in the U.S.) or just outside of town.  Just so that no one group could claim or try to exert more control then the others.  This is probably something that the representatives from all of the different groups would discuss during one of the initial meeting to talk about setting up such a thing.

The wolves claim all of Seattle, although they find it difficult, if not impossible to enforce.  Tom Thomson, aka 'The Peacemaker' would certainly be willing to cede a large section of the city to be declared a neutral zone and he would not be so crass as to make it an area that covered either of the two feuding Roderes.....
