The year is 2243 and humankind have been in exile for almost 100 years. After developing jump drive technology they found us, our incessant need to explore, conquer and colonise brought us, brought our home to their attention. We thought we were alone in the universe, but we were wrong...we were deadly wrong.
The Phage, the name we gave the mindless swarm that obliterated our off world colonies and overwhelmed Earth like we didn't even put up a fight. In a matter of days, humanity was reduced from countless billions to just five hundred thousand souls. Those of us that survived jumped far into deep space, where we still are in flotilla of ships, jumping from star system to star system, The Page always present always just one step behind us.
Our top minds deduced The Phage is a hive mind and had took the conclusion as far as to ruminate that there must be a single mind ruling them all. We knew they had Earth and seemed concentrated there, so if they had a central mind it had to be there. There was only one thing for it, assemble a volunteer team of talented people willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to take back our home for the rest of us.
