Who is still here?
« on: »
I'm going to try yet again to breath a little life into the old girl.

Who's with me?

Small crowd but I think we can bring the old girl back to some of her former glory.  What threads do we all want to preserve?

I'm up for anything, which doesn't sound too helpful when it comes to specifics.

I'd love to see everything that I had an active character in preserved but if we want to be realistic about it, I'd personally want to hang on to Bloodlines, Department 7 and open to whatever threads actually managed to survive the hibernation period.

I can certainly work on bringing those three back.  Anitaverse is likely going to be the hardest to revive.  There were so many things going on....

Not that this is relevant to anything on the boards. Ever. But just cause i'm curious how many people are still actually looking at this, I took up ice skating in early November and after skipping skating in December cause the holidays were WAAY to busy, Debbie and I started back skating in January.

My goal is to start playing hockey and I bought my gear a few weeks ago and now that the stitches in my back are healed and I have had a couple weeks to get my skates back under me I finally went out during my lunch hour today and skated in a subset of my pads (shin, pants and gloves) to see how much of a pain it would be to adjust to skating with the extra weight and limited mobility.

Let me tell you, hockey pads are AWESOME.

First, they are cool cause the model is basically roman armor with the exception of the pants instead of pteruges, which, cause I'm a geek, I think is cool.

Second, my god the weight to protection ratio is mind-blowing. My father is in law enforcement so I've seen my share of body armor for real life situations but it truly stunned me how strong and lightweight personal armor is in sports these days. Clearly, law enforcement is further behind the times only next to the military (and yes, I've worn military and law enforcement body armor so I have a basis for comparison).
The shipping weight of this stuff (and this is NOT the uber-expensive pro shit) was a whopping 11lbs. Yes, shipping, that means, boxes (it came in two boxes, cause the stick wouldn't fit in the other one), plastic wrap and wadded paper. I don't even FEEL the crap when I'm wearing it and yet, I have had my wife hit me with it and I can't feel a thing.

Third, now I can start showing up on Tuesday evenings from 9-10 to start practicing with Instructional Hockey League here and I am damned excited.

Fourth, and sadly, least, my wife has pointed out to me that this 23-ish chick that is one of the 8 people that show up for the 12:30-3:00 public skating times during the weekdays is all kinds of flirting and interested in me. She's giving me crap about her flirting with me. This is an ego stroke to an old, balding, beat up man.

Just my 2 cents.

Hockey rocks.  Good to hear its doing good things for your ego.  It will do awesome things for your physical fitness level too.

Hockey does rock. I went to my first session of the Instructional Hockey League this past Tuesday and will be going again in a few days.
I am SOOO way out of shape but had such a fantastically awesome time. I mean, I loved just going out and working on my skating abilities but damn, doing a real scrimmage is a BLAST! It was so much fun to just skate my ass off and be able to try to keep up with the rest of the players. It does give you an appreciate why even in the NHL the average shift duration is between 30 and 60 seconds.
I would never have been able to even try and keep up if I hadn't stopped smoking tobacco last July.

I am still here and tentatively willing to play. I don't know how well I will be at being able to run threads but I am looking for ideas.

I'm here. The only thread I was really involved in was the Anitaverse, so that'd be the one that I would want brought back to life if I had to pick one.

I am totally still around, will to play and even manage a thread or two. Being a new Mum of a tiny brand new person, I'm home all the time and can totally devote time between nursing!

Have received the email call and yes I am interested.... Would like to play Shadowrun again if poss... And I would like to continue the Hogwarts Reunion thread.. (I know it's been dead a while but I do miss my old characters)

My only issue with threads on here is that I can't be online as often as I used to.. have lots of stuff going on. Because I'm in a different time zone, if I miss a couple of days, the thread progresses 6 pages or so and conversations move on. The reason I didn't keep up with the reunion thread before is that I was busy for a week or so and I lost track of what my charries were doing. I do love you guys but I've never been able to keep up with the threads on here.

Well. given how few people are posting at the moment, I'm fairly certain that the reunion will not be moving quickly.  It's one of the threads I'd LOVE to revive.

Shadowrun was one of the dying threads but if you want to play it, I'm sure I could try to figure something out.  Is posting once a week in the realm of possibility?

Excellent!  As I recall, Tatayana was trying to convince Freya to use one of the Fausts as a sperm donor and was encouraging Akira to do something unladylike with Michael....  lol
