"I don't have anything done right now that's appropriate, but I'm sure I could do something that works," she smiled at Seth. The conversation was nice, and it was a plus that Seth was attractive.

Doug cocked his head and considered Waylon's words for a moment, "I agree that it's one of our most fundamental laws and I appreciate your conviction on upholding it regardless of who breaks it but I won't judge anyone based on what others might or might not do. I can only base my opinion of her on her actions. If she has gotten a taste for it, then yes, by all means, execute her. There are all kinds of actions taken in war for good reasons that wouldn't work outside of war. Based on my experience, everyone that was on her team shares a responsibility as well because they didn't stop her. In combat, you live as a team or people die. I think everyone should have their wrists slapped enough to let them know they fucked up and be done with it. I can't see applying a peacetime judgment on her for something that took place during a time of war."

"Well my dear anytime you want to bounce idea's off someone or show me a work in progress by all means call." Again he flashed her one of his charming smiles and reached into the pocket of his suit jacket and slid her his card. "its always exciting to work with various artists and study the mediums and techniques they use. Maybe if you have time you can better get to know Jallyn shes an artist as well but shes in a bit of a funk. Your talent and energy might be a good thing to help her get back on the horse so to speak. And I do apologize for her being so anti social shes usually not like that, but shes very sensitive to her environment and people moods. I fear with everything that has happened in the past couple weeks that she's going through another one of her emotionally unstable moments."

"I'm all for that,"  Waylon said.  "Her team let her down.  They should pay for that but not as harshly as Fia."

Thruseday May 6th, 1999 2:33 a.m. - Somewhere in St. Kitts - Papillion Frambois

"Papillion?  This is a bit of a surprise.  to what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Helen! I'm coming home, I know that you like to know these things. So I thought I'd do the kind thing and call ahead." Micromanaging is one of your strong suits...Papilion carried two of her suitcases out to the car, she'd have the rest mailed to her. Mentally adding an extra L to the head of the Toreador's name in her head as she awaited the chiding that would surely come.

There was a pause.  "I beg your pardon?"

Papilion paused at her car door blowing some stray hairs from her brow. Of course there had been potential for Helen to say 'No.' she just wasn't going to listen. She was a Hamiltonian Toreador, her home was still under her name, she was not going to stay in a place where they thought ballet was some form of fellatio. "I had a temporary lapse in sanity, I have come to my sense and am returning home to help fight as I was meant to do. It's my battle back there and  I can't play the wilting flower."

Helen sighed.  "Papillion, you've been gone for what, less than a week?  You haven't even given yourself a chance to settle in.  Are you certain this is a surge or  sudden righteousness or just a case of homesickness?"  Her voice softened.  "It will pass, little one.  The first change is the hardest."

"Homesickness, indignation, and righteousness all rolled into one ma'am." Papilion said offering Helen a respectful title for once. Neither was particularily fond of the other but, she was the leader and in times of crisis one has to respect one's leader...Especially if one will late be turning her back on said leader's idea of 'Fair trial'. "I realize you don't respect the art of dancing but they thought I was a stripper and are encouraging me to pursue this line of work. Which I refuse. I miss Hamilton and if I sit here and mope there is a chance there will not BE a Hamilton. I doubt my hand in the fight will tip the scales but atleast I will have been there to try." She said taking a cue from her petite redhead clanmate. Toreadors can stand tall. Toreadors can fight, and they will.

Helen's words, when they came, were slow as if she were chosing them carefully.  "If you feel that strongly about this city, you may return.  If this is about your horror over being cast as a stripper, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to stay.  Jallyn, as much as she is no longer truly an artist is still a stripper and she sees no shame in it.  There is something truly beautiful about the human body displayed in a manner that teases and tempts but never actually surrenders.  It is all dancing but dancing naked is the purest form."

Papilion closed her eyes a moment counting backwards from ten, I will not scream, I will not scream, I will not scream. "I have no problem with it as an art form as some of them are remarkabley athletic and graceful, Jallyn does stupendously. It's just not MY art form. You of all must understand a specific niche that bares your calling. To be pressure into another is...Displeasing. But that has little to do with my return, I doubt I will be dancing much in Hamilton during these days." Papilions little black car moved easily along the streets through the traffic was worse at the hour than back in the hammer. She could stop by the Prince and still make it home before dawn if she really moved.

"At some point ballet will cease to be, as all such arts will cease to be.  What will you do then, little butterfly?  Will you try to come home then?"  Helen's voice sounded tired, almost weary as if she really didn't have the heart or energy for this fight.

"Ma cheri someday I will cease to be aswell. And long before that my dancing will have to cease for the sake of the Masquerade, and my name forgotten by all but a few. All we can hope for is a prime we can look back on with pride." She may have been light little a butterfly but she knew the way the world turned. In slow, monotinous circles. "And sometimes we change our artforms...to survive." She admited for the sake of her leader. "But not right now. Right now my home needs me, and Helen, ma cheri I hold you in respect, I always have though we may never have seen eye to eye. But I'm returning, I would prefer to have your blessings, but my city needs me and I am coming home." Fia needs me...

Helen sighed.  "Very well, Pappilion.  You have not been go ne so long that it will seen odd that you are returning.  Let me warn you that this is the one and only time this will be allowed.  So long as I am Primogen in this city, yoru next departure will be permanent."

"Merci." She smiled lightly into the phone. Ha ha ha you have a heart...Kind of...Shriveled up hag. "I will be home before dawn."

"One would hope so."  Helen's wry smile could be heard through the phone.  "I would hate to think this phone call delayed you so much that you had to race the sunrise to safety."

She smiled, a joke? Dark humour yes but really, Helen? Joking? She didn't thin she'd see the night. "I'd race it just for you ma cheri  as I know you miss me terribley" She let a slight chuckle escape. "I'll let you go, I'm sure you have important events and people to attend to. Kiss kiss" Her car rolled to a stop infront of the prince's court and got out into the chilled night air.

"Rather than asking us why not talk to the source. Fia would likely be willing to give you her testimony of what happened. Sadly most of the others on her team perished during the war or left the city. Wasn't Pappilion there for that misadventure Waylon? Dough if you want I can call Fia and you can ask her yourself." Donna replied as eh pulled out her cell phone and tapped it on her knee.

Andy slid the card into her wallet, and pulled out her own, "Will do."

She glanced at the balcony to see Jallyn's back, "I can only imagine what she's been through. You let her know that if she needs anything, to not hesitate to call me. I love to collaborate."

"I don't know.  I wasn't there."  Waylon shrugged.  "If that's the case, only those who were actually present should be allowed to pass judgment.  One is dead, another has left town and two are Malkavians.  Do you really think she'd get a fair shake from Angel?  He's one of the Ventrue."

Seth nodded "I think my dear that she would consider the offer from the source direct to be more sincere. She is young and in some ways... She likes to fight me every step of the way. If I urge her to come to you she would balk."

"Indeed there is never too much a thing as having too many friends. She really is a sweet girl once you get used to her. Looking back in retrospect I do regret embracing her. She wasn't cut out for this kind of life." His smile faltered as he had a moment to linger on how much Jallyn had changed and how the embrace had actually damaged her quality of life. "I guess that is what I get for embracing someone that was overtly religious. I thought she would get used to things but were going a few years strong and theres no change as of yet. I won her heart but not her soul before the embrace sadly it wasn't enough it would seem. But enough melancholy sentiment" She smiled and chuckled softly to lighten the moment. "Do you yourself have any Childer?"

Andy nodded considerately as Seth described Jallyn, hoping to not step on any toes.

"You should show pride in your childe. Negativity only breeds negativity," Andy chuckled, "Maybe she's blocked. When I get blocked it feels like I physically can't create. She's just waiting for inspiration," Andy replied with an easy grin.

"I don't have any spawn, no. I want to work on my own demons before bringing any more around!" Giggling, Andy held her arms in front of her like an 'x'.

Talking with Seth was making her feel at ease. It felt nice to connect with someone over something that holds such standing in her life. She was happy to be making a friend, especially because she didn't want to fuck up her stay in town.

Thursday, May 6th, 1999 - 2:17 am - Tisdale Apt. 503 - Seth

"Children are a blessing and a curse." Seth replied wistfully. "Perhaps I can try being more understanding of her plight. Helen is always quick to point out that I rushed in. I embraced Vincent and that worked out fabulously then only a few short years later brought Jallyn into the family.  I thought a two year seduction would be adequate... But any emotional connection we shared apparently was mainly through the blood I shared with her. I took something beautiful and I broke it. Its a heavy burden to carry especially if you had seen her work. Andy... It was truly an awesome. And I use the term as it should be used not as kids nowadays use it. I just get frustrated Andy. I've tried being the good guy and to be supportive. I've tried the carrot and the stick routine. I've tried playing doting father as well as trying a more aggressive approach. The pressure I feel to have her create something, that expectation from Helen is immense. I can only imagine how my childe feels about it. Its an unpleasant situation for us both. I feel I don't have much left in the way of alternative solutions short of one which I am holding out on because I want her to be independent and self functioning."

Seth leaned back and stared at the ceiling. "I'm working with damaged goods, its hard to create something when what you have to work with isn't top notch. She wants her freedom but until she creates something thats on par with her old work shes stuck with me. For the mean time I've been grooming her in politics and diplomacy. If the canvas and pains and brushes have little meaning to her anymore perhaps she can master these instead. Having an emissary for clan interactions is always useful."

He smiled "And she has gotten quite good at it. So there is hope yet. But I think my dear that you are right. She likely has her demons shes wrestling with. I should be more patient and see what comes of that and just ask that Helen be more patient. But the offer of willing to share some girl time with my childe is welcomed and for that I do thank you. Jallyn really is sweet and caring. Shes soft perhaps thats what hurts the most about her embrace. Shes unable to stop looking back over her shoulder at the past. I'm hoping that maybe in another twenty years so so when her parents pass on, that maybe then she will be able to pick up and move on. But enough about myself and Jallyn please tell me more about yourself. How long have you been a part of the toreador clan. What are some of things that bring a smile to your face and things that you enjoy doing to pass time?"

"Oh, dear," Andy patted Seth's knee for comfort, "It's no use carrying all that around with you."

And people wonder why I don't make my own...

"When she's ready, she'll create. Until then, teach her everything else. When she finally finds her muse, she'll be unstoppable."

Waylon shrugged.  "He's a Ventrue and he's ambitious.  I don't have anything against him personally, in fact I think he plays a mean acoustic guitar.  He's not a high generation but he's the number two Ventrue in the city so he's touchy about any authority that he gets his hands on and from all accounts Fia stepped up and challenged him.  I doubt he's going to forget that, especially when he's got her over a barrel like she is right now.  Any Ventrue would want to put the last nail in her coffin."

"Before this I'd have said he was fairly close to being the perfect Prince.  He left us alone to do our own thing and didn't make too many demands on us."  Waylon shrugged.  "You'd hardly know that he was a Tremere and not a Ventrue.  He's a politician, not a warrior and I think what we needed for this invasion was a warrior Prince.  He should have turned the reins over to Donna or Sarah for the duration because I think he made a couple of bad decisions.  Calling in reinforcements from New York before we even had a chance to make our own stand left a bad taste in my mouth."

He considered what Waylon said about the prince for a moment before replying. "Based on what I know of events, its probably a good thing he brought in the extra bodies when he did, bad taste or not", more to the point, he thought, it sounds like he had a good idea that this was going to be more than just a case of kick the dog and wanted to be prepared for it. Out loud he went on, "Although I agree, he could have done a helluva lot worse than turn the reigns over to Donna for a general."
