May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Malkavian Meeting 10:53 pm - David

"Only the fact, fact, fact that I've already said that,"  David replied, clearly annoyed at Alan's stating of the obvious.  "We'll be dealing with the Hamilton issue first.  If we have time, we'll discuss Fia.  Time for a pocket check, people.  How much money do we have to invest in this city and which areas do we want to invest in?"

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Nat's Basement apartment 10:53 pm- Clan Malkavian Meeting - Justice Carpenter

BP 12 (12)  W 6 (6) HP 7 (7)  HM 6 (6) SC 3 (3)

The conversation and the revealing of details of what had gone before her arrival in Hamilton was as complicated and clear as the the lull and swell of voices of the past that usually crowded Justice's senses. Her hands came together and slowly pulled on each joint of her long fingers as her feral gaze danced from each speaker as they voiced the recounts and opinions on the whole situation. There was some sense to the words that were being said beneath the jargon and inane babbling.

A new appreciation and one might even say respect was rising for David as she watched him interact with the group and skillfully reprimand a fellow clan remember with style and subtly. She cocked her head slightly as the voices picked up with the mention of their duty to rebuild the city that had been torn apart by those she knew to be infected . Her soft voice rose as David had finsishe speaking, "And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves. for charity shall cover the multitude of sins."

Her wild eyes flicked to the faces of each of the other clan members present before continuing, "We are all sinners and what was done to this city was close to the greatest sin of all. We must all dig deep into what ever resources we have not only for the redemption of the city, but our own personal redemption. David, I have some money I could invest, I could possibly liquidate about ten thousand dollars. . but. . .it must be a worthy investment. The Church, schooling, perhaps the hospital?"

Alan was slightly hurt by David's clear annoyance in making sure that there was nothing else immediately occupying their attention tonight but he didn't let himself be distracted by it. God knew that what had happened here in Hamilton was enough to anyone on a short fuse and both David's responsibility as clan leader and the fact that he was having to deal with at least two completely new clan members only exacerbated the stress in an already difficult situation.

The questions David put to the group were concise and direct giving him a clear direction to think in. He held off on speaking until the other's had their say, partly out of politeness, partly to let David know he knew he was aware he'd been rebuffed and partly because Andrew wanted to hear their answers and have an idea of what they had to work with.

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Malkavian Meeting 10:55 pm - David

"We'll definitely need to rebuild schools and likely the hospital,"  David said.  "We could buy some serious goodwill by supporting those, those, those, those, those, those two causes and if we manage to get involved in building the hospital, we can arrange access to the blood bank and the morgue.  I'm not asking for your last dime, Justice, even though I know you'd give it to a worthy cause.  I'm just asking what you can give easily and what causes you would like to support."

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Malkavian Meeting 10:55 pm - Nat

Nat Frowned for a moment as she looked at the others in the room before scribbling on a pieceof the binder paper and making a paper airplane that sailed into David's lap.

Is the money quest a game question or a real life question? Cause if its Game I can have like my character be rich right? If not I can donate maybe 500 bucks if I get a receipt.

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Malkavian Meeting 10:55 pm - David

David read the note and sighed.  He pulled out a pen.

'We're using the RL events to base game events on.  If you want to donate to the Hamilton relief charities, go for it.  No, you can't make Des rich unless you have the cash to back it up.'

Any other questions?" he asked.

HP: 7 (7)     BP: 10 (10)     WP: 5(5)     Hum: 8 (8)     SC: 4 (4)

Alan watched the paper airplane sail gently across the room, curious but not enough to pry. There was silence for a few moments and no one else seemed to be want to speak up first. Perhaps if he said something it would get the ball rolling. He spoke briefly with Andrew, his eyes focusing on nothing, and came back to himself as David asked if there were any more questions. Andrew wanted to begin speaking immediately but Alan asked him to be patient just a bit longer at least until they had something of an agreed upon plan in place.

Alan glanced around the room, "We were unaware of the extent of destruction when  we left and being unfamiliar with the specifics of Canadian business practices it will take us a day or two to come up with something concrete enough to act on but it sounds as if there is a lot of infrastructure damage. Our first thoughts would be investing in the reconstruction of those items, in particular utilities, hospitals and possibly housing as well, depending on the extent of the damage. Perhaps creating a business or organization that enables people to find employment and or housing, even if its only temporary", looking at David his voice took on a slight Scottish brogue as he continued, "To answer your question on emptying our pockets, we can have five hundred thousand by tomorrow night, roughly double that by the end of the week if we sell off all our liquid holdings. If we're investing it in an existing, or even new, enterprise, we will be able to leverage that into significantly more even foregoing outside investors. By preference I would invest in something that can be self-sustaining, if at all possible, so it continues to be useful to both the citizenry and ourselves long after the crisis has past."

Alan groaned inwardly at Andrew, Could you try to be a bit more subtle? You don't always have to drive the train with the boiler in the red zone.

He shook his head slightly, "Sorry for being a so long-winded. But there are the initial suggestions and capital information you asked for. I have no questions at the moment."

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Malkavian Meeting 10:57 pm - David

Nat is going to think he's just lousy at keeping accents, David thought.  More likely he's got somebody else in the driver's seat.  We?  At least they know there is more than one person riding that head.

"Alan, I'm hesitant to suggest you sell everything and invest in hamilton.  It's a risky venture, especially for a newcomer.  I'd look long and hard before I decided to throw all my eggs into, into, into, into, into, into, into, into, into, into-" David stopped and reached for a pen.

'Into one basket, especially a basket that is already broken.  Can't guarantee a full recovery or a full return on the investment.'  He slid the paper across the table to Alan, his eyes offering an apology.

Alan read the note, then smiled at David, "I understand and appreciate your concern. If it's alright with you I'll go ahead and convert my liquid assets and just use that. That leaves enough for my personal interests to be self-sustaining and more than enough for my needs. Andrew is quite good at what he does and has confidence that we can use that amount and create a venture that will benefit Hamilton and the Clan well fairly rapidly as these things go. My only request is that you let us know of any requirements, desires or advice for us regarding the rebuilding of Hamilton. We wouldn't feel good about ourselves doing less; It's why we came to Hamilton, after all."

Thursday May 6th  1999 - 2am -

The meetings across the city with the various Kindred clans ended and the members parted ways with much  to think about. It was now 2am the bars in city had fifteen minutes previously announced last call and now came the job of shuffling their patrons out.

The night itself seemed more still and somber. The explosion had done much to take away the lively energy and vibrancy of the Steel Town. Sunrise would not come until 6:06am and that gave the kindred of Hamilton a few hours of free time for themselves.

Narrators note: Due to the fact that the meetings would take sometime to discuss money rebuilding etc the mod has moved time forwards. Players have entered a free time phase where they can converse with other players or do whatever they would like to do. If you have not made mention of how much your character is planning to donate to rebuild the city Please PM me a quick note detailing how much money you will be tossing into the relief fund.

Please also note that for your next post to change the time to the 6th and to Thursday since we have crossed over the midnight threshold into a new day.

Thursday May 6th  1999 - 2am - Donna - Tisdale apartment 502

Donna left the shower and padded into the living room to sit down she had to admit Lewich had hauled ass and somehow managed to get the glass work in the apartments replaced with speed. With glass at a premium she wasn't sure how he had done it but she was happy none the less.

With her haven burned to the ground it meant she was stuck residing here until she could make arrangements. In a way it worked out well enough. It meant Doug was going to be residing with her and staying close to her side until after the presentations at court later that week.

She stretched looking at her knuckles that were still bruised. True to her word her and Iggy had moved their fight to somewhere more quiet and Doug had been testament to it.

It had started off as a shot for shot situation. Iggy had gotten some good shots in and worked off some steam, but come the end of it once he had worked out some of his rage she had finished the fight. Her age and blood carried her further but she admired Iggy's spirit if not his hotheadedness.

She had asked if Iggy would be staying at the apartment but he had explained that he wanted to stay at his garage. His house had seen enough damage that there was not chance of living in it but the garage was still habitable albeit a bit smokey.

It was pure chance that they had come across some drunken sots on the way back to the place. The Brujah had managed to top up on the beer laden blood and it helped dull and smooth any existing tension in the meantime.

She noticed Doug sitting on the other couch. "You seem quiet. Whats on your mind?"

Thursday May 6th  1999 - 2am - Jallyn- Tisdale apartment 503

Jallyn= BP8/13, WP 6/6 HP 7/7

Jallyn  sat on the balcony over looking the city and the harbor line.  The explosion had taken out all the brilliant twinkling lights of the industrial and lower end housing and had been plunged in darkness. It was dark enough to make it seemly melt into the cold inky water of the harbor.

Inside their apartment Andy, Seth, and Vincent Chatted. Jallyn wasn't feeling overtly chatty. Helen's decree that they were to vote for the death of one of their own had made her feel helpless and weak. The city had lost enough adding another name to the list of the lost didn't make sense to her.

Laughter rang from inside the apartment, no doubt the brothers were being wonderful hosts and keeping the new Toreador entertained. She just didn't have the energy to slap on a happy face and pretend that all was merry and gay.

Between her feet was a small sketch pad and a pencil she picked them up and opened the pad. Each page was virgin not a mark marred the crisp white surface. Each page was empty and barren and devoid of beauty. Tentatively she touched the tip of the pencil to the surface her fingers trembled slightly as she realized she had forgotten to breath and was clenching her teeth, with so much pent up emotion in her she felt like she was going to explode. Her soul ached for comfort and something warm and familiar as her fingers twitched once more drawing shaking unstable and uncertain lines on the page.

The city was in ruins and her soul cried out for salvation and from somewhere deep within, her muse stirred...

Butcher glanced up at Donna when she spoke, "Just organizing my thoughts. I have a lot on my plate at the moment and it's only going to come faster. How I can spend my time and make a little cash, How organized things are around here
and how best to prepare for when the shit hits the fan again, how to fill in the holes in my knowledge fastest. Iggy isn't half-bad in a scrap and he will be even better if he starts fighting with as much head as heart. Thanks for the crash space. It's appreciated. Also thinking of what kind of slap on the wrist I'd go with if I were the prince and the council tried to force me into punishing those involved", He gave a lopsided smile, "I tend to get quiet when shit's on my mind. One of the things Scotty and I had in common. After we got to really know each other, every now and then, we would spend days at a time on the road without more than a word or two between us."

Thursday May 6th  1999 - 2:01am - Donna- Tisdale apartment 502

Donna smiled "Yeah Scottie was good for that. My own silent little brooder. Fuck I miss him. Don't thank me for the crash space. All this has been provided by the Prince. But in regards to you wanting to make money fast... I guess it depends what you are good at Doug. The next few days you probably wont get much of a chance to make much but what you will be learning is the lay out for the city. You are my responsibility and that means you will be by my side till after court. After that you will be able to operate more independently and I'll just pop by to keep tabs on you once a month or so. Tomorrow night were going into the blast zone. I have to patrol. As Scourge for the city I really need to make sure nothing else is coming through the borders. Patrols tend to take most the night but if I were Sabbat scum slipping in through a non popluated area like that would be my prime choice. Theres a lot of burned out buildings and exposed or semi exposed basements to bunk up in.  Having you there could be advantageous for us both you might get to roll if we come across anyone."

Doug glanced away for a moment, "Yeah, I miss him too. Like a hole in my gut", when he looked back he said, "I kinda figured it would be something along those lines and I wasn't planning on making any money for a week or so anyway unless I happened to get lucky and maybe taking a few bucks if I happened to feed on someone carrying way too much cash. I'm good at a lot of things but very little of it is legal", he chuckled. "I figure I can sell weed. I doubt the gun running trade is going to be thriving at the moment and that would eventually bring me into contact with the MC if I did it in any real quantity anyway. You being Scourge makes sense and I actually look forward to it. That's the sort of thing I've had a lot of experience with and it will take my mind of things and give me a feel for at least some of the city. Actually rolling across anyone would be a fantastic bonus. Too bad being Scourge isn't a paying job although it might not be a bad idea for the prince to help fund the Scourge and anyone he trusted that was willing to help with the job. My feeling is that at least for a while it's going to be a full time job." He cocked his head for a moment as he looked at her, "You mind if I ask you a question? Do you know who Scotty's Sire was?"

Thursday May 6th  1999 - 2:04am -Butcher/Doug- Tisdale apartment 502

Donna listened to Doug and paused to light a cigarette. "Yeah being scourge dont pay the bills that I assure you. I had a gig doing power washing during the evenings and sold dope on the side. Nothing huge you know bout 20 or so people that looked for a little something for personal use. it helps pays the bills."

She stretched out and rested her feet on the coffee table. "Scotties sire... Man now you are making have to think. Scott was a pretty quiet guy he didn't talk bout his past much then again not many of us do... I met him once in passing in DC off all places. His name was Richard. But its been years and I doubt he resides there. Were like leaves in the wind we blow where ever the winds goes sometimes were hard to find. Why do you ask?"

Doug pulled out a battered silver zippo and lit a cigarette of his own while she responded. "I'm not entirely sure to be honest. Just because he never talked about him and he may not have spoken in a while doesn't mean that they weren't on good terms. It seems like the right thing to do to let whoever it is know that Scotty is dead. I'd also like to meet them and see what kind of person they are, get an idea of where Scotty came from. If he turns out to be a bastard, then thats fine too, call it proof that good things can come from shitty circumstances", he suddenly got a mischievous twinkle in his eye, "you know, radio could be fun. I can see having my own radio show and it could turn out to be useful in a pinch. At least it would be be entertaining."

Donna nodded "I don't know where to find Richard. I know he used to teach a night course in English Lit at Georgetown. But your radio could bear fruit Dough up on the mountain we have a college, Mohawk, they do radio broadcasting. Im sure if you talked to the right people you could get a one hour slot each night to play with."

Doug nodded, "Well, I will file Richard away as a long-term spare time project. As for the radio, I was thinking more along the lines of setting up a small mobile unit and going pirate. There ought to be plenty of unused air around to play with and I can get all the gear I need without breaking the bank. It won't have a huge range but it should cover Hamilton. Great fun for me, entertain some people and might come in handy if all hell breaks loose again. Won't be two way but it would still be nice to broadcast updates to everyone knowing where to tune in. But the college radio would be an excellent resource to play with for a while to get a feel for what can be done with a real setup."

Thursday May 6th  1999 - 1:30 - 2:06 am - Dundas - Waylon

BP 13 (13)  W 4 (4) HP 7 (7)  HM 6 (6) SC 3 (3)

Waylon stepped back, the paintbrush in his hand.  He'd been surprised by how much he missed the big Brujah.  He'd only really gotten to know Scottie over the few days they had fought together.  He was going to miss being called 'Little Bro'.  He'd yet to offer his condolences to Donna.  Truthfully, he wasn't sure how she would respond.  But then, the Lord hated a coward.
He lifted the canvas off the easel.  It would be dry enough to handle by the time he got to Tisdale.  He'd just have to handle it carefully when he carried it out to the car.

It was half an hour before the little Miata pulled into the parking lot across from the apartments that were being used to temporarily house the dispossessed Kindred.  Waylon carefully picked up the small painting and carried it into the apartment foyer.  He reached out and rang the buzzer for apartment 502.

May 6th Thursday 1999  2:00 am -  Double Angel Studios - Angel

Blood Pool=9/11 Willpower=4/4, Health=7/7

"I apologize for the small size," Angel said as he showed his two guests around his haven.  "Obviously my needs are few and I try to redirect the majority of my income back into the businesses.  The bed is large enough to fit both of you.  I hope you don't mind sharing.  The usual guest accommodations are being used to house up the local Kindred who have been displaced by the explosion or by actions of the Sabbat.  I'm sure we will be able to find something more in keeping with your needs and your style.  There are a lot of interesting properties available just outside the damage zone that really only suffered cosmetically.  And of course there are always properties turning over in other areas.  There are even some condos for sale on the mountain brow.  It should be an interesting view in ten years."

Doug raised an eyebrow at the buzzer when it went off and gave a nod to Donna. As he drew himself to his feet and headed to the intercom he reflexively made sure that the small holdout pistol was securely held in the pancake holster sewn into the thick leather of his cut and the small hunting knife hanging upside down in the scabbard sewn to the inside of his vest was seated as well. Given that so many havens had been destroyed he wasn't about to assume it was completely safe here. He pressed the button on the intercom, "Yes?"

May 5th Wednesday 1999  2:00 am -  Double Angel Studios - Dee

There was a small groan from under the blanket on the couch. A groggy voice grumbled. "That better not be booty call Angel unless you want them catching the plague."
