May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Boomers Bar on Kennelworth- 10:30pm Brujha meeting spot- Butcher

Butcher counted to three while he quietly exhaled. He had never gotten out of the habit of breathing even though he didn't need to do so. Maybe it helped him hang on to his humanity. He used it to focus on making himself relax. Donna had a job to do with a legitimate concern and letting his irritation get the better of him wasn't going to help anyone. This was her turf, she gets to make the rules. "OK, let me start over. My appearing uncooperative isn't going to help anything. I'm just on edge from the road, Detroit and not knowing what the fuck is going on."

"Scotty Embraced me eight years ago. We met through some club business and had ridden together for a few years before it happened. He had ghouled me early on, right after we met, slipping his blood into my drinks occasionally so I wouldn't know. We had been mixing it up with another club at the time and were trying to lay low. We were in a little nowhere town off the beaten path near the Colorado Texas border called Villegreen a few miles from Comanche National Grasslands. He had pulled one of his regular disappearing acts and I was hanging at this little no-name icehouse when some of the guys we were ducking happened to show up. It was such a wild stroke of happenstance that it tempts me to believe in fate. Anyway, when it was all said and done, Scotty found me on the side of the road, bleeding out. It was around an hour before dawn and when he realized that there was no way to save me he asked me if I wanted to live. I said yes and he Embraced me on the spot. It was so close to dawn that I don't even remember him finding us shelter. The next night when I woke up he told me what I was, what he was and started showing me what that meant. I was starving but luckily we were in the middle of nowhere with a national park a few miles away. I'd always been strong, even for my size but when he had me tip a cow by myself without any real effort, it kind of made an impact. We fed off of the cow that I tipped. I can't believe how fantastic I thought it's blood tasted", he chuckled. "We were on the road together for the next 5 years, working for the club, exploring country while I learned from him how to live as a Kindred. We parted ways in Seattle but kept in semi-regular contact and occasionally our paths would cross." He was silent for a moment, a slight smile on his lips and his mind obviously elsewhere.
"So, thats when and where I was sired and how it went down. If you want more precision, I've got my journal in my saddlebags. If you need more context or detail either before or after my embrace, fire away."

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Boomers Bar on Kennelworth- 10:32pm Brujha meeting spot- Donna

The Brujha leader mulled the info around in her head. The time woulda been about right from what she had heard from Scotty's tales he had mentioned that he wouldn't be passing through texas for quite sometime. So that might mean Scotty has enemies down there. "So he embraced you on the spot. He contact the head of the city or least the head of the clan before he do it?" Donna asked curiously.

"Well, he thought about it. I vaguely remember him saying, "I don't have time for this" but if he was talking to himself or talking to me, who knows. I was busy spiraling deeper into shock. I'm confident he at least considered it but regardless, he did it without permission. Took the leg off the Sheriff with a shotgun getting him out of custody. It was an impressive first lesson that he never missed an opportunity to remind me of. 'Having a Child is a big responsibility, Butcher', he always said", he chuckled. "Definitely hammered the point home though. Needless to say, we avoid Texas."

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Boomers Bar on Kennelworth- 10:32pm Brujha meeting spot- Donna

"Fine I'll take your word on it. Sounds pretty much par for the course when it came to Scotty." Donna looked over at the large vampire sitting beside her. "Truth is Dougie I got some shitty news for you." Her tone softened just a touch as she took another drag from her cigar. "Scotty to the best of our knowledge has met his final death. Detail's are a bit sketchy but I'll tell you what we know. He was one of the teams that went in to help deal with the Fiends ghoul packs. They weren't overtly friendly either. Lost my arm to one of them while I was down there. Took over a fucking week to grow it back. But Im digressing. He went in there with a crew. And no one from that crew came back. I've tried calling his Cellphone nodda. Accounts from the ghouls in Burlington that were serve the Prince of Burlington and his subjects said that there was some pretty nasty action down there including several sabbat that had decided to create a cook out by bringing along the flame throwers. I'm sorry Doug but your sire went down swinging and took down as many douchebags as he could."

Donna flicked the end of her cigar and fell into silence. The news was delivered. Now it would be the time to see if he would take it calmly or go apeshit in her ride.

Wednesday May 5th, 1999  - -  Hamilton Airport 10:10 p.m.  - -  Morgan

BP: 10 (10)     WP: 6 (6)     HP: 7 (7)

To say Morgan was irritated was like saying that a hurricane was a gently summer rain.  It wasn't that he minded flying, to him it was simply a means to get from point a to point b in the least amount of time and with the most amount of frustration.  First there had been a security concern during boarding, it took both airport security and the Detroit Metro Police to straighten it out.  Time lost: 23 minutes.  Then one of the rear left tires on the plane blew while pushing back from the gate.  So it was back to the gate, off load passengers, luggage and cargo, wait for a replacement plane, reload all passengers, luggage and cargo.  Time lost: 37 minutes.  Delayed on the taxi way while airport personal tried to clear a coyote from the runway.  Time lost: 6 minutes.  And last but not least, they had to wait for their arrival gate to get clear after they landed.  Time lost: 8 minutes.  Total time behind schedule was 74 minutes.  The irritation was rolling of him in almost palpable waves.  People were only too glad to move out of the way as he stalked through the airport.  Morgan just hoped that whom ever was supposed to meet him was still hanging around.

Butcher sat motionless, his face a blank. That can't be right, he thought to himself. Scotty's dead? I figured when he didn't call that something was going down but dead? He felt no reaction, just a sense of numb disbelief. He blinked quickly and shook his head slightly from side to side a couple of times, blinked again.
His deep voice was quiet and flat when he spoke. "How long ago was this? What are the odds he's and the others aren't captives?", he asked absently taking a drag on his cigarette.

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Boomers Bar on Kennelworth- 10:33pm Brujha meeting spot- Donna

"Twelve days ago. I tell you this was the fastest and most brutal Sabbat attack ive ever seen launched in these parts. I've gone down to check the areas but theres nothing. Plus not sure if you ahven't noticed but 1/4 of your city got blown up. Burlington got front row seats for those fireworks. Apparently it was awe inspiring. Fact is if it was the flame throwers that got him no body same if he was on his way back to Hamilton and was caught in the blast. If the Sabbat got him they woulda drained him dry and left him to meet the morning sun.  I keep hoping that maybe he will be back but its been over a week. Scotty was the type of guy that he reported in. And I don't see the Sabbat calling us up to negotiate for him if he is alive. Much like us we catch one of theirs we interrogate then end their existence." Donna looked over to the Bruhja "For what its worth, Scotty was a stand up guy. Dependable got shit done and I knew I could trust him to follow orders and have my back. So what will you be doing now that you got this news?"

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Hamilton Airport 10:15 pm - Angel

Just like Grigor, Morgan wasn't hard to spot.  Just under six feet and well over two hundred pounds, he was a walking thundercloud.  Angel sighed.  Hopefully he wasn't going to be too belligerent.

"I'm not going to ask if you had a pleasant flight," Angel began, walking up to the man.  "Angelo Angelino.  Mark asked me to meet you.  I've already picked up my other passenger, so we can just grab your bags and get out of here.  I'll make introductions in the truck on the way into Dundas."

Twelve days, Butcher thought to himself. Twelve days, in the shit, and he hasn't reported in. She's right, I'm grasping at straws with the prisoner idea, they would do exactly as she said. Scotty's dust. He focused vaguely on her as her question registered on him.
"What do I do now? I have not a fucking clue. You know about the church? You said it went up with the rest? Shit." His mind was starting to spin and he knew it, too much, too fast. "What I'm going to do now is get drink. Coming up here to help Scotty from getting into to much trouble and checking in on how things were progressing with the new chapter up here...circumstances have altered. For the moment, I just need a drink, maybe a half-dozen, find a place to bunk down before dawn", he said distractedly. After a brief second he focused fully on Donna again, "Am I keeping you from clan or personal business? If not, I'd like to buy you a drink and ask a few more questions."

"You can and may buy me a drink. And yes were having a small gathering of the left over bruhja's sadly there aint many left. Mainly Iggy and myself now. I've heard wind that we got another joining us and that he should be showing tonight but lets admit it sometimes were not the most punctual of creatures."  The Spanish woman looked up at the spring sky and marveled at how clear it was. With most of the industrial section of the city gone it had done much to improve the night sky. "We could use a few more members. We aren't entirely sure if the Sabbat are going to be coming back or not. Things will be quiet without Scotty or Cera around but if you got roots elsewhere and you were up here for a social visit I get that too. Only thing I'll be needing from you then is to stick close by where I can reach you. No offense but I have orders to pretty much Kill any vampire I don't know on site. Wandering round on your own could put a damper on living forever."

Donna look3ed down at her cigarillo and discarded the last third of it into the parking lot. "I don't know bout you but I need a bloody beer."

Butcher nodded, "Yeah, I can understand that with the Sabbat stepping so far out of bounds. I will be in easy reach. As for roots...it's an interesting question. I was going to talk to Scotty about it. I've been involved with the club for over twenty years. The last eight after I was embraced. It helps that I was a trouble-shooter and moved around a lot but I still have to report and deal with the same people face-to-face every now and again. Its remarkable enough that I'm still alive at all but I'm sure people have started to notice I've stopped changing. I was wondering if it was time to move on. Other than the club, the only root I have-", he stopped himself and shook his head once in a rapid motion, "had, was Scotty. I was hoping he might hang out and be a sounding board on how to handle it. Let's go get those drinks." He opened the door to the jeep and stepped outside, flicking his cigarette butt into the parking lot and walked around the jeep towards the bar.
"So tell me about what I missed. How many did we lose? Do we know who the Sabbat members were that orchestrated and or carried out this assault or whats happened to them? I wasn't expecting...anything like this." He took a deep breath and counted to ten as he let it out slowly, trying not to clench his fists. Just maintain man, he thought to himself, you just need some time.

"First things first Dougie hold your horses. You are asking for a lot of sensitive info. If you want a sounding board I ain't scotty but I've been around for a while and had to reinvent myself several times. Its getting harder and harder to do nowadays though. I wont force feed you recommendations but if you want some friendly advice that I could give you."

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Hamilton Art Gallery- 10pm- CLAN Toreador- Helen

Helen smiled as her favorite slipped through the door.  It been no small effort to move the art gallery higher up the priority list for repairs.  Much of the glass in the building had been broken and several of the gallery's lesser pieces had suffered irreparable damage.  Her domain had been restored to it's former glory however and Helen was once again mistress of all she surveyed.

"Hello, Waylon," she said, giving him a short hug and a kiss on the cheek.  "I knew you'd be first."

"I thought I'd come early to see if you needed help," the ginger artist lied.  Truthfully he'd come early to make sure he was first.  The Toreador were strange that way.  He knew Helen knew he was lying, just as she knew he knew she knew.  It was all part of the game.

"Thank you for the offer but everything is prepared already,"  Helen said.  "We just need to wait for the others."

Butcher nodded, "I know I am but I figure it's the fastest way to learn the info if you tell me and if you won't, it's nothing personal and I wouldn't have found out if I hadn't asked", he shrugged. As far as the re-inventing part, maybe I can show you a few tricks. The club has a surprising amount of technically competent people and I've worked with a lot of them. I couldn't do most of the work myself but I sure as hell know people who can and how to find others. My issue is more along the lines of when do I know its time to go, although I suspect that the answer is going to be, if you find yourself thinking about it often, it's probably about that time. And if you really have to get my attention, call me Butcher. No one has called me by anything else in twenty years and I'm not used to listening for it", he gave a slight smile.
Talking to Donna was turning into a good distraction for him, it gave him something to focus on and she would be a good sounding board. Although he didn't mention her but a couple of times it was clear that Scotty respected her opinion.

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Hamilton Art Gallery- 10:06pm- Jallyn, Seth, and Vincent

The explosion that leveled a good portion of the city had left many of the vampires destitute. The issue wasn't that Vincent's house and studio had been in the blast radius, however some Sabbat douchebag had figured out it was a haven and had torched it.  Vincents place wasn't the only one that had been torched apparently the head of the Gangrels house had met a similar fate.

That had left them little options of bunking down. The prince of the city had tried to do his best to find others accommodations. Some of the kindred offered cash space at their own havens, while the other options had been to stay at the Tisdale apartments.

Jallyn and the two Delvecchio brothers had spent the first couple days bunked down with Angel until The Prince could get the windows replaced in the units that were used to shelter visiting vampires.

After that they had spent most their time at the apartment. It was cramped since they were still sharing with other Kindred but it did its duty and kept them safe from the sun during their slumbering hours.

Jallyn was silent n the matter but felt it was dangerous to stay there. So many Kindred housed up in one building all it would take was a cooking fire and they would all be screwed.  She made it a priority to get out and get a place of her own as soon as possible. But with 1/4 of the housing gone from the city and it was the more affordable housing... It meant her dream of living independently might be put on hold.

Despite everything Jallyn felt insecure and vulnerable. She wrapped her jacket around herself a bit tighter as they crossed the road and headed to the Art gallery to meet with Helen.

Seth entered the Gallery as cool and confident as ever. If the attack on the city had bothered him it was something that he had managed to hide. Vincent on the other hand was almost as quiet as Jallyn. He had lost everything in the fire. It was going to be a nightmare to get the insurance company to sort things out.

The trio filed their way into the Gallery to area located around Helens office. Seth greeted her appropriately. Vincent gave her a kind and respective nodd and Jallyn shifted uncomfortably as the Elder's eyes fell on her.

The Truth was Helen had little love for her. Jallyn had been embraced by Seth because she had been a brilliant painter. But her mused had died the night she had and since then she could no longer paint. It disgusted Helen that much Jallyn knew. She lowered her eyes to the floor and greeted her elder with a softly spoken "Good evening Helen."

That was it for the toreadors. Vincent had said Pappilion had packed what items she had left and had moved to Niagara Falls where it was safer. All the violence and fighting had left the petitie ballet dancer shaken.

Now Helen had the center stage to start her meeting.

Wed. May 5th, 1999- Dundas Driving Park 11:00pm- CLAN GANGREL MEETING SPOT- Sarah

Sarah sat alone under dinette number 4 in the park. The picnic tables had their paint scratched off and all forms of graffiti spray painted and carved riddled the top of the table she chose to sit on.

She had told the others to show up for this time give or take a few minutes. Closeing her eyes she turned on her senses to sniff at the air seeing if she would be able to detect her kinsmen and their arrival.

Wednesday, May 5th, 1999 - Dundas Driving Park - 11:05pm - Fia

Health= 7/7 BP=11/12, WP=3/5 HUM=7/7 SC=3/3

Fia pulled up in her Animal Control van. Spotting Sarah, she parked and strolled over, noticing she was the first one to arrive.

"Hey, Sarah," said softly, lowering her head in a bow towards her leader. Her full lips parted briefly as Fia didn't know what else to say after all that had happened.

Wednesday, May 5th, 1999 - Dundas Driving Park - 11:05pm - Sarah- the gangrel meeting

Sarah nodded back. "Have a seat or whatever. We are waiting On Xiao and possibily Tamara. I've tried contacting her but so far her cellphones not turned on. Could be she skimped town. Lobo wont be joining us either Fia since hes decided to leave the city. Hes had enough of this senseless fighting and death. Still as a Clan we fared pretty well no one died on our watch.  The reason I called you here is simple The Prince is holding court in the next few days. Attendance is mandatory and your Diabarie is going to be one of the hot topics of debate. You know its not too late to just pack up and leave town like Lobo. Technically we aren't even a part of the bloody Camerillia.  We go where we will it just seems Hamilton has always had a small branch of us that have hung around. What are your overall thoughts and feelings on things Fia?"

May 5th Wednesday 1999 - Boomers Bar on Kennelworth- 10:34pm Brujha meeting spot- Donna

Donna nodded and give the vampire a firm but friendly handshake. It wasn't enough to break bones but there was a confidence behind the way she gripped his hand and a sparkle in her eyes that almost expected him to squeeze back.

"Twenty years in the same field its your first answer Doug. And I'll call you Doug because if you are thinking of reinventing yourself Butcher is gonna have to go. The masquerade comes first and foremost and if you've been running the block with these guys for two decades you need to get out now before they clue in. Bikers aren't stupid they will notice. The only reason you probably havent been bused so far is because you drift from town to town but I can assure you your luck will go south soon. And it will break your heart to have to kill another brother cause he remembered rolling with you 16 year prior and he wont let drop the fact that you haven't aged a day and-" Donna Paused a a drunken pair walked out of the bar to have a smoke and some fresh air. "Talking about this stuff is probably best left to doing back in the truck away from curious ears or if you don't mind me screaming into your ear we can do it in club over a few cold ones."

Butcher accepted the handshake and gave a slight grin when he felt that little extra squeeze. He replied in kind before nodding his head, "Yeah, it wasn't out of character for me but I've been pushing it for a while. Xiao's car could be heard approaching at least 1/4 mile away.  Her breaks squealed and screeched as she pulled into a parking spot.  The drivers side door screamed in protest as she opened it.  She thought better of closing it.  It was easy to spot Sarah and Fia at one of the tables.  They were the only ones in the park at that time of night.  She stopped a good four feet away from the two women and waited for a break in the conversation.  Xiao approached the two and gave her clan leader and her clan mate a nod and smile.  She was glad to see Fia there.  Over the past week or so Xiao had helped the other Gangrel adopt out at least two dozen of the animals that had become 'orphaned' during the attack.  Most of her regular clients were more than happy to give a home to one or more furry little creatures when she asked.  "Sarah, Fia.  Are we all that are going to be here or are we waiting on other?"

It took a brief moment for Angelo's  comment about his flight to sink in.  But once it did Morgan noticed that most people were giving him a wide berth, very wide in some cases.  He let out a deep sigh, gave himself a mental slap to help calm himself down and shook the proffered hand.  "The flight was fine actually.  It's the every present delays associated with air travel that annoy me," he gave Angelo a smile.  "Morgan Reed.  It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Angelino.  Thank you for hanging around."  Morgan's hand was still rough and callused, attesting to his previous life of hard manual labor.  "I'm sorry about my perceived attitude.  It's easy to forget how our emotions can effect those around us so easily."  It didn't take long to retrieve his luggage, besides his carry-on Morgan had only brought one other decent size suitcase with him.  The rest of his stuff would be brought up if and when he was excepted into the city and he had a safe place to live.  Until then his loyal staffers would keep things running back in Detroit.

"Lobo's gone, and Tamara isn't answering her cell," Fia explained, "Looks like just us." Fia grinned despite recent events. She was happy that the Gangrels were all still alive, even if they weren't in Hamilton. Pickle had been fed and, as she left, was eagerly chewing on Fia's, (now Pickles'), brown suede boots. And Chaz had been captured...

"Oh, yeah!" Fia breathed, startling her clanmates, "Chaz! We have him! What do you think is going to happen with all that? Maybe I should just make a run for it."

Wednesday, May 5th, 1999 - Dundas Driving Park - 11:07pm - Gangel Meeting

Sarah Stretched lazily out on the table. "Truthfully What I've heard is that he was taken into custody after you brought him to meet the prince and that hes been heavily interrogated."
The Gangrel clan leader looked bored as if none of what they were discussing mattered. "For all I know hes dead. I can't see Lewich keeping him around. Hes not one of our clans and if he doesn't get the proper training from his sired clan that would make him Caitiff and we know that this city doesn't tolerate clan less kindred. By the way Xiao sorry to hear about your house being set on fire too. Thats a shame. But the reason I called you girls here is this. We got court coming up this Saturday night. New arrivals to be announced."

The Gangrel leader paused looking as if she had swallowed something unpleasant then continued. "Fia's trial and likely condemnation and sentence for eating what's his face. The news about what were going to be doing next. Its also going to hold another interesting tidbit that no one knows about. And thats me stepping down as leader and leaving the city. With just the two of you left you can duke it out as to whos going to be head of the clan or if with the small size its not needed. Personally I don't care and I wont be handing it off to a designated person. Its a terrible responsibility and who ever holds it will gain the prince's attention and THAT is never a good thing. Lewich is a softer ruler than Dimitri was. Dont get me wrong on that. He prefers to rule with a council and to let all clans have their say but we trade in the ability for split decisions to be made when he seeks for everyones input. Lewich is a good prince to have around in times of peace. But I think you might see something being put into motion ladies. Its just a guess but Lewich was Prince when the city blew. Others higher up on the totem pole will see that as a sign of weakness and they will come. I don't want to be anywhere near here when the older and stronger kindred move in to take the throne from our wizard prince."
