my opinion about both the time jump situation and the list of casualities proposal is simply this.... really the bottom line is although we as the players have an opinion and i thank the gm for asking us what it is .. really we do not have a choice our choice is toplay or not play with whatever the gm does , we can only hope the gm is a good, fair to all , and just gm..............
my opinion..... where it relates to hearst ......... the upcoming battle would have abeen a very defining spot for hearst both for him self and the way others might view him in the future as as how he views some others, and those viewpoints would have entirely depended on what happened in the battles all aspects opf the battle would have been important, leadership, actual fighting, defending, even running if that happened, all aspects would have had an impact ionto hearst viewpoints and due to his past with no proper prejudices towards clansmm dare i say an ever greater impact then some would have otherwise thought,
not to the list of causualities point, yes i agree having a character you lie die is part of roleplaying experience, the person who posted that in my opinion forgot the most important fact and only stated a half truth, it is not as important wther the character dies or not it IS GENERALLY MORE IMPORTANT FOR ROLEPLAYING IS HOW THE CHARACTER DIES I personally have had characters die and their death great altered the playing of other characters and in some cases was the entire reason and prupose behind a new characters history and reason they joined the group. 2 perfect example in this case are 1.--- Lobo and Boogie, do the die heros battling and buying the rest of time causing distraction, does boogie die giving lobo enopugh time to possibly escape and in sop doing brand boogie a hero and himself a coward, or does it happen in a way that turns them both into heros. 2. hearst, angel and rory, do they die fighting as team and succesffulyy kill numbers of support possibly rescuing some with their valiant deaths, or does angel die saving rory making him a hero, does hearst die saving rory and / or angel earning him a position of respect withthem, does rory die saving hearst , does hearst trip and land on his own sword killing himself by accident basically
and those are just 2 situational examples where ihave listed just a couple of the myriad of possibilities to a death os 5 different characters there are a thousand other options as well .......... the how is just as if not more important then the fact that a character has died
although as a player and not the gm i will defer to what i must defer to and that is the final saying of the gm ... whom i believe is good and fair to all and a just gm... the reasons stated above are the reasons that my vote would be to not do the time jump and even more especially not give a simple list of casualties wityh out listing very detailed descriptions of the hows for each and every character
