Thursday April 23rd, 12:55 - 1:10 a.m. - - Dundas - - David
They all turned with weapons ready to confront the new threat but they were relieved to see that it was one of their own, rather than one of the Sabbat. Perhaps they had only lost two that night, rather than three.
"Salt?" the Malkavian asked, frowning. Then is eyes flew open wide. "Jesus Christ on a crutch, crutch, crutch, crutch, crutch, crutch, crutch, crutch, clear it away! They salted the ground so whoever is down there can't come back up! It's probably Lobo!"
Angel shrugged off his jacket and handed it to Xiaoqing. It wasn't going to make digging any easier and she needed it for modesty's sake, if not for warmth. He couldn't help but notice the smooth curve of her legs and how the myriad of bite marks marred them. "Rain is soaking it into the ground," he said. "It's going to be hard to make sure we clear it all."
"That is one of ours down there," David said, scooping up handfuls of salty dirt. "We are going to get him, him, him, him, him, him, him out of there."
"I said hard, not impossible," Angel shot back, digging like a dog. "Rory, you keep an eye on our dead guys and make sure they stay that way? Hearst, if you're not too badly hurt can you give us a hand? We just need to clear the soil that is mixed with salt."
Their hands were torn by the time they hit dry earth, where the water had not yet drawn the salt down to sterilize the soil and prevent the passage of a vampire attempting to meld with the earth. The Sabbat hadn't known exactly where Lobo had descended so they'd spread the salt liberally, if thinly, over a wide area. The patchiness made it easier to clear the salt away but it was still hard work.
"He should be able to come up, up, up, up, up, up, if he has a mind to," David said. "I suppose we can wait a few. In the meantime, I'm going to call in and let the Prince know we've got Xaioqing back and we know where they're holed up. Maybe he'll send a ghoul squad to watch the place until dawn." He looked at the Gangrel. "You look like you've had a rough night. Are you, you, you, you, you, you okay?"
