Angel followed, handing the cabbie a twenty dollar bill. "Keep the change," he said and watched as the cab drove away. He made note of the cab's number. Then he pulled out his phone, once again dialing the Prince before he rejoined the rest of BEta team
"Chantal? It's Angel from Beta. I have a report for Antigen. I think he's going to want to get this directly from the horse's mouth." The Prince's ghoul didn't seem offended but promptly put Angel on hold. It was five minutes before Antigen picked up the phone.
"We're pulling out," Angel said, well aware that the Prince had no time for small talk. "We have two prisoners, one of them wounded, killed one and you are already aware of the one that was allowed to escape. We've taken minor physical injuries, the worst of which was serious damage to Papillion's knee. She will dance again. I fear the worst damage may be psychological. The one we killed was killed by Fia when she frenzied. They were grappling and she bit him. She didn't stop. To quote your apprentice, she drank his soul."
"Please bring your guests with you and return to my haven immediately," Antigen said. "Bring the others as well. Is Henderson clear?"
"We're still checking but we're running on limited strength," Angel answered. "If they've hit all the hospitals with more than four newborns in each one, we're in worse trouble than we thought. I'm hoping that there is no one left here but we're verifying that before we bug out completely."
"It is appreciated. My reports have confirmed that there were fourteen graves found this evening near Dundurn cemetery. Two were dispatched in the graveyard and team Gamma arrived half an hour ago to drop off your photographer who is currently under my care. They had found two kindred at the hospital and had not finished checking. I assume they are currently taking care of the rest. Jeromy called fifteen minutes ago to confirm that he had found one fifteen minutes ago and called in the ghoul unit to dispatch that problem. I have not yet received confirmation from team Alpha about MacMaster but they were able to capture a Sabbat vampire on the Hamilton Burlington border earlier in the evening. With all the excitement tonight, I haven't had a chance to properly interrogate him."
"Our prisoners don't seem to have much of a clue," Angel said. "I think they were Embraced, starved and turned loose. At least one of them thinks it's all a bad acid trip."
"Such things are not beneath the Sabbat. We'll discuss this once your party had finished its sweep but it would be my assumption that there are four in each hospital. They just haven't hit St Joe's yet."
"Maybe their leader is religious," Angel suggested, only half seriously. It had been a long night. "We'll be in as soon as we are done here."
The Prince hung up and Angel returned to his team. "Antigen wants us to report directly, as soon as Des is done her sweep," he said.
It was almost an hour later that the Malkavian made her appearance, popping up near Fia's van. "All clear," she cheerfully announced. "Just a lot of cops, running around with their heads cut off, like chickens."
"Hopefully not literally," Angel said. "Now let's get the Hell out of here. The Prince is waiting."
