September 13th, 12:11 am - - Seattle  - -  Shale

pfft...pfft...pfft.  The soft sound was almost inaudible over the din of combat.  The first shot went wide, embedding itself it Morvan's bicep.  The other two found their mark and sank into the base of Lobo's neck between his shoulder blades.  Shale gave Morvan an impassive look and shrug which could have either meant 'sorry' or 'oh well', it was impossible to tell which of the two her expression was trying to convey.  She loaded a fourth dart into the rifle and took aim again but didn't fire.  Instead she waited to see how her Ulfric reacted to the tranquilizers she had already hit him with.  Each of the darts held enough tranquilizer to take down a fully grown male African lion according to her friend at the zoo.  Shale just hopped that they would do just as well on a vampire controlled Ulfric.

September 13th, 12:11 a.m.  - -  Seattle  - -  Elisabeta

Elisabeta was torn between trying to help subdue the wolves Ulfric and finding out if this rogue vampire was the one she had been sent to find and return for trial.  Her duty to her master finally won out and she followed the others as the vampire fled from the fight.  She held back though, not wanting to get involved in a confrontation that she had no legal to be in in the first place.  If this truly was the vampire she was hunting her job would soon be done one way or the other and she could return home.  If it wasn't she would just have to keep looking.  She was very impressed by the Peacemakers ability to withstand the mental onslaught from his advisory and finally settled her mind on something that she had been mulling over ever since the conference and Lobo was taken by this miscreant.

September 13th, 12:11 a.m.  - -  Seattle  - -  Daniel

Daniel held his position on the roof top, the sniper rifle tucked snugly into position.  The rifle was loaded with silver bullets that had been soaked in holy water.  A double whammy for any vampire or lychan that got hit with them.  He just hoped he didn't have to pull the trigger on the Ulfric.  But he wouldn't hesitate to take out the rogue vampire.  He had a good shot on Lobo but lost the vampire when it fled the confrontation with the Swan Queen.  Instead of changing position s and possibly loosing his bead on the wolf he held and prayed that those on the ground could get things under control.

September 13th, 12:12 am - - Seattle  - -  Morvan

Morvan looked at the dart in his arm.  Of all the times to get hit with a tranq....  He wobbled slightly, suddenly unable to properly control his feet.  He felt an uncontrollable urge to giggle.

"I used to be a werewolf, but I'm alright noooooooooooooooowwwwww!" he howled, thinking it utterly hilarious.  "I think I'm going to lie down now,"  he announced, flopping down in the middle of the road, chuckling occasionally to himself.

Not far away, the disheveled Ulfric slumped against a wall, blissfully surrendering to unconciousness.

September 13th, 12:15 am - - Seattle  - -  Father Domenic Sozio - The Executioner

Domenic had never executed a vampire that was not chained, nor had he ever done it at night.  The lycanthropes stirred as he moved past them, so palpable was the fear pouring off him.

The lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

The circle of werecreatures, vampires and police parted as he walked up, a small leather bag held tightly in a sweaty hand.  He looked at the Peacemaker, who was still holding the vampire down by the throat.  The werewolf seemed so human, so utterly normal that Domenic thought at first that there had to be some kind of mistake but the vampire in the ground seemed to radiate such a thick aura of evil that he knew there could be no mistake.  Not only was this an evil vampire, it was a twisted vampire, one who had long ago lost any of the humanity it had once had.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

With shaking hands, Domenic set down the bag.  It took two attempts to open it.  He pulled out an envelope and from it removed a single sheet of paper.  His mouth was dry and it took him a moment before he could speak.

"I, Domenic Sozio, acting on the power invested in me by the States of Washington, Oregon and Idaho, do hereby declare the rightful and just execution of this vampire for his crimes against the citizens of Seattle and of other places."  He looked down at the vampire, careful not to make eye contact.  He thought briefly of offering the vampire last rites but thought better of it.  With shaking hands he pulled a silver stake and a mallet out of the bag.

"Do your worst, priest," the vampire spat, although talking was difficult with a werewolf pressing down in his throat.  "I'll take all the souls of those virgin nuns that I raped down to Hell with me.  I've got them inside me."

"You won't take them there,"  Domenic said softly, positioning the tip of the spike over the vampire's heart.  "Their souls belong to God.  His love for them and their love for Him shall be their salvation."

"And what of mine, priest?  Do you think I chose this?"

Domenic hesitated.  "No, I doubt you chose to become a vampire but I suspect you were a monster even before you felt the first bite.  You might not have chosen the direction your life went but you certain chose the path you took from that point.  There were other ways.  You didn't need to kill and maim and rape to fill the hole in your soul.  You could have filled it in other ways.  You could have filled it with love.  You could have filled it with forgiveness."

"I fill it with hate.  I fill it with loathing.  I fill it with all the things you feel for me right now."

"Then you fill it with love and forgiveness,"  Domenic said and all those around him smelled the lie.  "And that is a great state in which to die and meet your maker."  The hammer rose.  "May he have mercy on your soul,"  he added as the hammer fell, driving the spike home.

And on mine as well....

September 13th, 12:15 am - - Seattle  - - Suki - Head of Preternatural team

Suki's heart hammered rapidly in her chest. The adrenaline was flowing and she could feel her body soaked in sweat.

As Domenic read the vampire his rights she whispered a silent prayer as well. As the hammer fell the group feel still and every thing was as silent as the grave.

She looked around to make sure that everyone was alright. All of her men and women were accounted for.

Though it seemed that Officer Davis was unnaturally pale. Officer Cele's was also in the area but from what Suki could see Maria had on a poker face. She didn't seem phased at all by what just went down.

September 13th, 12:17 am - - Seattle  - -  Father Domenic Sozio - The Executioner

Even Domenic, null that he was, felt the sudden stillness in the preternatural beings that stood around him.  He could understand why.  Few got to watch legalized murder.  The fear that had gripped him was gone he realized, replaced with a numbness.  There was one more step that needed to be taken.  He looked at the Peacemaker and was astonished to see tears in the man's eyes.

"You're going to have to move your hand,"  Domenic said.  "With a stake in his heart, he's not going anywhere."

Tom nodded.  "Sorry, father.  I just wanted to make sure."

Domenic pulled two things out of his bag; a plastic sheet and a small saw.  Much of the crowd shuddered and took a half step back.  Watching an execution was one thing.  Watching a beheading was something entirely different.  "So do I," he said as he began moving the body onto the plastic.  "So do I."

"Perhaps it would be best if we withdraw,"  Nick said, one hand resting firmly on the shoulder of a rat who was just a little too eager to move forward.  "Blood and death have unfortunate effects on our kind.  It is fortunate that it is not the full of the moon."

"Agreed," said Tom.  "I need to check on my Ulfric."

As if on signal, the werewolves and wererats melted away into the night.  Even Leia had withdrawn, her part in the drama completed.  Her swanmaids had gone with her, as had the city's vampires.  It left only the humans and a lone vampire to witness Domenic's final actions.

September 13th, 12:18 p.m.  - -  Seattle  - -  Daniel

Daniel relaxed a little when Lobo hit the ground but he still didn't take his eye from the scope.  It wasn't till he got the signal that the vampire was suitably restrained that he finally relaxed, rolled onto his back and let out the breath that he had been holding.  Another three minutes and he was packed and off the roof.  He placed the rifle case in the trunk of the car that was parked behind the building, slipped behind the wheel and then pulled it around to join everyone else.  He took 20 seconds to survey the scene then walked over to where the female wolf still held the tranquilizer rifle to her shoulder.  He approached from up wind so as not to startle her too much.  Daniel placed his right hand gently on her back while taking hold of the barrel of the gun with his left.  "It's alright now Miss.  You can let go of the rifle."  Carefully he took the tranquilizer rifle from her grasp.

September 13th, 12:25 am - - Seattle  - - Lillia

Lillia appeared like a ghost out of an alleyway.  "Did it go well?  Is there enyone hurt?"  She asked Nick quietly as she came up beside him, giving the rats with him a thankful smile.  They had put themselves on the line to stop this menace, going so far as to work in tandem with the other preternatural creatures of the city, and the human police force, both things that they were not usually inclined to do.

Okay.  Any thoughts on where we would like the story to go?  I think the main problems is that we have too many different groups represented.  I'd like to see everybody playing what they want to play but the question is how to bring everyone together...

Thats a good question there. Best thing i can say is that necessity breeds invention. It also tends to bring the strangest people together. By creating a common enemy that the characters had to go against you did a good job of bringing together people who otherwise would have stayed far away from each other.  That has formed friendships that can be built upon. The biggest thing is now we need a place for the plot to go.  The rats have other issues to worry about so they would be busy trying to bring all of the roderes in the city together still.  what the others would be doing, not sure.

Well, the leopards have a vested interest in what happens with the rats.  It was a rat rodere that wiped out all their Alphas during a 'peace conference'...

I'm open to ideas.  My 'common enemy' was the plot thread that was left hanging for months when people stopped posting.

Maybe a police advisory board?

Well with this story being based in seattle I can see certain powers that be trying to do thier best to bring the were's out in the open in a light that paints them as "good" rather than "bad."  I can see political figures being involved, and of course good possibility of the police being involved.  After the way everyone worked together already, there's plenty of a base to go off of.  So police advisory board sounds pretty good.  Kinda helpers on preternatural based crimes. Soemthing like that they would want a variety of creatures to cover all the bases.  And it would likely cause some interesting issues too.  No matter what there are always going to be superstitious and scared individuals that will cause problems.

They aren't enough of a voting base to get the politicians involved and there are too many radical opinions in both directions.  It's political suicide to pick the wrong side.  I'm thinking of a possible police advisory board kinda thing....

Heh. True true. I think the police advisory board could still be met with different reactions.  It has a good possible role play value to it.  the whole help the police do thier job thing and with the basis from thier interaction with the vampire issue there is a good reason to call on the preternaturals for thier help again.  Its got my vote.

Okay, so it looks like a police advisory board seems to be the way to go.

Can I have a role call of who is going to be playing what character and a 'resume' of what they can bring to the advisory board?

Two animals.  Right.  We'll put them in the petting zoo.  Well, maybe just the wolf.

Did I mention that Andrew was killed when Lobo was first taken?
