Monday July 8th 12:16 am On route home -Suki
It had been over two hours since Suki had entered the club. She had watched and observed but saw nothing too out of the ordinary. She didn’t screw up the courage to ask to see the inside of the VIP room solely based on the fact that she was not willing to donate.
Suppressing a yawn Suki stood. She was tired and tomorrow would be a new day. On the list of things to check out, she needed to look up this Chalice guy as well as contact Father Sozio for more vampire info. She would also hear news about who was being put on the preternatural squad. So far she and Patrick seemed to be the only candidates and he didn’t seem too impressed with the promotion.
Walking out into the night Suki felt the first droplet of rain fall on her cheek. Walking through the brightly lit parking lot she slid into her car and buckled up. "At least I left before it started pouring." she muttered to herself.
She drove out of the parking lot with much on her mind. By the time she had driven 7 blocks the rain had turned into a down pour. The windshield wipers mechanically clicked and squeaked as they worked furiously to keep Suki's line of vision clear. Another 14 blocks and she noticed the familiar outline of three people walking down the street.
Slowing down she coasted her car up to the curb under the streetlight. "You guys need a ride?" Suki asked Morvan, Jynxe and Cynara.
There are few words that describe wet cats ccurately. 'Pathetic'. 'Drenched'. 'Pissed.'. Morvan was all of the above. His hair stuck to his skull like limp licorice. Water ran down his face in small rivulets and it was fairly obvious from his expression that it was likely running down his back and trickling down the crack of his ass. "I think I might be convinced to accept the offer," he said, making an attempt at preserving his dignity. "Thank you."
He helped Jynxe and Cynara into the back seat, and took the passenger seat for himself. "If you keep this up, I'll owe you my first born. Finally had enough of the dead guys, eh?"
"It's late. I'm not really an 'up all night' type of girl. I have to work in the morning, so I couldn't be up all night, even if I wanted to. If you want, down by your feet, you'll see a dufflebag. Go ahead and open it. You'll find two towels in there. Just mind the other stuff."
"You mean your wet bathing suit?" Morvan grinned. "I can smell the chlorine. Either you use too much bleach or you were recently swimming." He pulled the towels out and passed the drier one back to the two girls.
Suki nodded. "Yeah, I went after I was done work. I guess I was lucky that I forgot to take it in with me when I got home and got changed."
Morvan rubbed the towel vigourously through his hair. It left him with an extreme case of 'bed head'. "Bikini or one piece?"
"One piece. You'll find a hairbrush in there if you like."
Morvan shook his head. "I'll live without it. Showering when I get home. With sandpaper, to get the fuck smell out of my skin."
"Suit yourself. I'm dropping you guys at the farm, I guess?"
"Unless you want to drop me off at the border, sure."
Suki shook her head and chuckled. "I'm not going that far out of my way."
"Nice to know there are limits to how far you would go to get me out of your hair." Morvan grinned.
"Really, it's no problem. You're not in my hair."
"I could be." He chuckled rakishly.
Suki gave him a dismissive glance. "I think we're okay at the moment."
"Suit yourself. Do you have one of those pine tree things you hang from your mirror in here somewhere?"
"No. They're considered a distraction for the driver. Besides, they smell terrible."
"You don't know the half of it. Are you sure somebody didn't stash one under your seat?"
"Yes. I'm positive."
"I could have sworn there was one in the car somewhere." Neither of the girls in the back could smell anything in the care except for the leather interior and the scent of the owner. Morvan was either hallucinating or he was up to something.
"How did your meeting with the wolves go?"
Morvan shrugged. "The ones I met seemed okay. Not too high up in the pack structure. Fairly smart. They have the same opinion I do. We are better off on our own than in any kind of alliance with the with the vampires, at least. So what is this idea that you were talking about earlier? Using the cops as a go between?"
Suki explained the idea behind the preternatural response unit. Morvan snorted. "You're going to need bigger guns. And lots of crosses. Preferrably pointed ones. You know, dual purpose."
"The first step is to actually work with the community, not try to hunt the community down and kill them. The secondary purpose would be to hunt down rogues. We woulds specialize in any crimes that involve the shifters or vampires."
"Staking vampires is a public service," Morvan said. He sounded quite serious.
"Some people see it that way."
"Yeah. The living ones." He was beginning to smell signs of Suki's annoyance. "You do realize you're going to become the bogeyman? Every shapeshifter and vampire who breaks the law will be seeing you as the guy who hands the executioner his axe."
"If they break the law."
