Dark Shadows
« on: »
Just got back from seeing Dark Shadows.  It fails as a movie.  It tried to straddle the line between drama and comedy.  If it had stayed on one side or the other, it would have been a good movie.  Unfortunately, it didn't.

The villain was two dimensional but her make-up was incredible.  Johnny Depp's make-up was like his performance, scene chewingly over the top.  This movie had so much potential but failed on so many levels.

That's rather disappointing to hear. I watched the show occasionally when I was a small kid and enjoyed the idea. When I first saw the ads for it, I was thinking they were going for a comedy take on it which sounded entertaining and seemed like it had a good hoot factor to it.

I'm not so sure I'm down with them trying to treat it as an actual drama. That doesn't jive at all with what I've seen of the trailers. :/

It's not piracy, it's sharing. Didn't your parents teach you to share?

The trailers try to make it look like a comedy.  If it had been, it would have been a better movie.
